Get a glimpse into online play for Mario Strikers: Charged

The fine folks over at Jeux-France got their hands on an early build of Mario Strikers: Charged, taking care to document the online gameplay capabilities. Considering that the only glimpse into online gameplay on the Wii we've been privileged enough to see so far, we'll take what we can get.
The video is past the post break, but we must note that it takes fairly long to load, so make a sandwich or something. You'll be waiting for a bit.

im not a fan of strikers but with online i might look into it. my Wii number is 7936 2740 0334 9138 someone add me i only got 1 wii friend.

I'm so psyched abouot online play, I just hope the game turns out to be good so I won't be dissapointed with it.

So, wait, the friend system doesn't sound too bad to me. It'd be nice to have a global username, but being able to play ranked matches against opponents without having to exchange friend codes is good enough for me at this point (and much better than I expected the system to be).

Other than that, you play random strangers, just like in Metroid Prime: Hunters, Mario Kart DS, Tetris DS, and every other WFC game on the DS. Friend codes aren't that big of a deal. They're just there to restrict communication between strangers for molesting and stuff, but not to restrict gameplay. I haven't watched the video yet, but is it true there will be 3 month seasons for the leaderboards?

It is true that there will be three month seasons -- he says it on the video.
So, I'm confused -- why does everybody complain about friend codes? What am I missing?
In those games you mentioned, do you have to share friend codes the same as your regular Mii friend codes, or is there an option to add somebody as a friend (without having to contact them independently of your Wii to exchange information)?

I hope you're right about the friend code system.
I think that most people have this idea that you can only play online with people that you've exchanged codes with, and not random strangers.
If what you're saying is true, then it won't be so bad after all...

This game looks very fun,I am sure to atleast rent it. I hope other online games like brawl follow a simular online format, but improve it.

The only thing that people gripe about regarding the Friend Codes is the fact that you have to input them into every different game you play online. So, for example, if I added you all to my list of friends in Mario Strikers, I'd have to re-add you to my list in say, Super Smash Bros. Brawl...
...at least, that's the way it was explained to me. I could be totally lying, but I blame my sources (i.e. friends).
