Umbrella Chronicles won't be another Gun Survivor

If you've played Dead Aim or any of Resident Evil's other Gun Survivor spinoffs, it's understandable why you might be hesitant to give Capcom's newest rail-shooter a chance. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles shares the same first-person perspective and light gun mechanics as the GunCon games, so it's easy to associate the title with the mediocre Gun Survivor series.
NeoGAF forumer cvxfreak posted a well-supported list of reasons for why you shouldn't confuse the new Wii game with its PS2 cousins, claiming their similarities as superficial. Unlike with most of the Gun Survivor titles, Umbrella Chronicles' development hasn't been handed down to a lesser studio. Capcom's own Kawada Masachika is heading production, working to extend the game's length -- approximately 15 hours -- beyond the short playtimes that plagued Gun Survivor releases. Umbrella Chronicles also promises a lot more gameplay depth with destructible environments, improved weapon selection, and quick time events.
Previews for Umbrella Chronicles haven't been favorable, but it's still too early in development for us to judge. Knowing that Capcom won't be following the same formula as the Gun Survivor series, however, gives us hope for the final product.

Are you guys joking! RE:UC is gonna be my first AAA game (other than Zelda, but Zelda: TP didn't feel like a;; pf the other AAA Zelda titles)

actually IGN gave it a favorible preview. Quite honestly this game is either going to be one that people either love or hate.

If this is multiplayer, I'll be first in line to buy a copy.

It's conflicting. I pretty much called it a joke on my blog (if you go to my blog, make sure to read the comments about it). However, I know many people who are excited for it.
I just think it's BS and blatantly obvious that REUC only uses the Nunchuck so people will hopefully make a $70-$80 investment on the game (potential gun peripheral pricing). Because let's face it. Without the gun peripheral, holding the Nunchuck along with the Wiimote for a point-and-shoot game is fairly ignorant. Aside from looking to other areas for secrets/unlockables, the Nunchuck does nothing. All the controls are in the Wiimote.
I'm not paying $50-$70-$80 to play House of the Dead. I can spend $5 on HotD2 in an arcade, play it for a half hour, beat it, and never play it again.

Some of the footage looks good and some of it looks like crap or lame to control. Lets call it what it is though a Gun Survivor game.

Who's paying you to push this game so hard?

What are you talking about Next-Gen-Gamer? It sounds like the game can be played with only the wii-remote or have the option to use the Nunchuck. What do you mean Nunchuck only? I'm not quite sure I understand the complaint. I doubt there is any real reason to buy the gun addon unless that's the way you prefer playing but personally I won't be getting it.
I just hope they have the ability to config the buttons however you like. The Z button would be the best option for shooting your weapon that way you can keep your hand steady while you aim and shoot. I hate how every game thinks it needs to treat the wii-remote like a gun and use the B button to shoot. It's hard as fuck to shoot accurately like that. It's a little easier with a gun just because it's designed to that way.

If this comes packaged with light gun like wii-play, it has co-op, downloadalbe content and replay value (15 hours wtf?). Then I might consider this.
