VC Friday: Gods and cavemen
And to think, people say bad things happen on Friday the 13th! Well, that's certainly not true if you're waiting for the news on today's Virtual Console additions. It's a good week to love classic games ... and we know a lot of people who are going to screech with delight at the chance to grab ActRaiser. So what do you think of the Virtual Console so far? Has it delivered, despite any grumbling about pricing? The good stuff just seems to keep coming!
Available today:
- ActRaiser (SNES) -- 800 Wii points
- Bonk's Revenge (TurboGrafx) -- 600 Wii points
- Pac-Man (NES) -- 500 Wii points

I -love- actraiser. And Bonk. And Dragon's Curse (Also known as Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap on Sega Master System). And Super Mario World.
I'm pleased with the virtual console. Despite the price.
Actually, even the price would be okay, IF I didn't have to buy 10-dollar increments. That means that until you've spent x amount on virtual console titles, EACH game costs 10 dollars. I feel a little scammed by that.

ACTRAISER!!!!
I still remember the music from the first level... and spiraling down toward the earth... and blasting villagers with lightning...
Must. Have. This. Game.

I don't know, I haven't really been that impressed with the virtual console yet, I guess since I owned every console except the N64 I was looking forward to more of those titles, and not the ones I already have (I have the zelda's on gamecube and Super Mario 64 on the DS). That and some of those games aren't worth the flat price, just because its a SNES game doesn't mean its worth 800 points. I'd like to see pricing based more on size and quality of the game just like in the real world ;).
That and the games they are releasing are ones I never had any desire to play the first time. Some people might be content with little known retro classics, but I want some big names before I'll shell out the bucks. Some good Bomberman, or Pokemon Stadium, or even Super Mario 2 and 3. Or some good puzzle games that don't feel like a rip-off. :)

...or Shadowgate, that'd get me to buy something... ;)

Big names like... Pokemon Stadium?

Can't wait to get ActRaiser. More games these days need to blend genres like it did.

I think the prices are fair as they could be. Some of the games fetch as twice as much on eBay and the like, whereas on the VC I don't even have to wait for them to arrive and can play them through the one system connected. It also works very well for people like me who didn't grow up with all 5 of these systems and would like to see what they missed. And before someone mentions ROMs - it's also legal.

Where the heck is Super Metroid for goodness sake!?!

Who'd want to be the creator anyway? Considering the stunt your oh so loyal subjects do at the end of Actraiser. (Won't spoil it totally, but it did make me upset back when I was a little kid when it first came out)
Me at 10 years old: I BLED FOR YOU! I SHELTERED YOU, THIS IS HOW YOU REPAY ME?? (But yeah Actraiser on VC is awesome)
