Samba de Amigo coming to Wii? [update 1]
There's a genius in the higher management of Sega who recently came to a revelation. "My God," he said, "we can make a crapload of money by bringing back popular franchises that find suitable uses for the Wiimote." And lo, his word became gospel, and now there's a tasty rumor on the horizon that his teachings are spreading far and wide: the classic arcade rhythm title Samba de Amigo may be coming to the Wii by year's end.We don't need to tell you, of course, that the Wii was originally designed for the express purpose of shaking maracas. It's brilliant. If you're wondering how this title can compare to more traditional rhythm-based games, here are some wonderful YouTube clips for your enjoyment. Here's to you, Sega executive guy.
Update: Sorry, pesky little typos broke out of their cage.

What about Shadow of the Samba? Where 9mm's are shaken in time to the animosity of local Latino street gangs.
Sorry, I just saw the Sonic Team logo and that's where my mind goes for some reason.
Maracas are cool too.

I know it'll be Samba, but..Space Channel 5 would be nice. :(

I'm sorry, but the Sonic Team bashing has to end
After 2 horrible games, they suddenly suck, despite all thier other brilliant work
But please, god, let this happen, and Space Channel 5

Oh man.. 28 days ago I totally called this: http://gaming.wikia.com/index.php?title=The_Easiest_Game_to_Bring_Over_to_the_Wii

I called for this to happen before that even:

Even if Sega give us nothing more than a direct port, this will see a much bigger audience than it ever got on the Dreamcast. It MUST happen.

I for one wish that this will stay a Dreamcast only exclusive. I love the Wii but i love my Dreamcast much more.

This is fine, if they were to add in two wiimote support instead of just wiimote and nunchuk, though that limits how many can play at once would it?
shawn @ Apr 13th 2007 10:39AM
the original samba de amigo only supported 2 players steven i. but they need to have some sort of rattle attachement to go on top of the wiimotes. that was half the fun of the game itself. but my GOD i just sold my wii but i will buy another one if this game is released.

how on earth are the going to do the height detecting like on dreamcast? as well as the shake, there were 3 heights, double wiimotes that you have to keep pointing at the tv???

@ #9--someone will come out with rattle attachments, should this game come to life (and luck willing it will). I'd duct tape two film canisters filled with a few dried beans to the ends of the wii controllers if it made it feel like the original.
Here's something I could see, however, as a programmed alternative--the "shaking" sound coming from the wiimote speaker? A 1 player option, perhaps, to use two remotes instead of a remote-and-nunchuck combo? Nah, I'd rather have the can of beans.
