EBGames says Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition on the way

According to a preorder listing found on EBGames' website, a new Wii version of Resident Evil 4 will be released on June 25th for $30. While we don't have any details on it, other than that EB thinks it exists, we can speculate about what it will include: the PS2 extras, if we're lucky, and a new Wiimote control scheme. It seems a little shocking that companies are already porting Gamecube games to the Wii, although Shigeru Miyamoto hinted at the prospect back in August. We can't wait to see how one of the Gamecube's most impressive games benefits from the power of a second, taped-on Gamecube.

In general I'm against gamecube ports to the wii...after all you can just play the gamecube game itself (especially if you already own it). But this is one game that I would gladly re-buy for some extra content and wii-mote controls.
I'm the type of gamer that once I finish a game I would rarely pick it up again. But I was so impressed with RE4 that having some small changed to it would be just enough for me to take another look at the game and replay it.

God help me, I'd actually consider this at that price. It was such an awesome game... throw in a few extras and "real" 16x9, and I'd probably bite.

If this is true, I'm surprised Capcom hasn't said anything. I wouldn't mind playing RE4 a few more times on the Wii for only $30.

I actually bought RE4 for PS2 cuz i wanted extra crap, but I'd definitely buy it again if it came out for Wii!

Somehow I don't think that video is real. Still a cool idea though, I just wish I hadn't just bought RE4 for GC (to be played on my Wii) for $20 online. Still a great game though, but I probably won't buy it. I can cross my fingers and hope that it can detect my Gamecube RE4 saves and then unlock the extras for me, but that'll be when Hell freezes over.

I unfortunately never picked up RE4, just borrowed it from a friend once and called it played. This is a perfect way for newcomers like me to get into the game.

This is a very good idea. To bad it isn't truly confirmed yet. Actually, I kinda' expected them to release on one of the newer system or the PSP. Mostly I was hoping for a PSP remake. But this is great to if it's true. Atleast if it came out on PSP, I wouldn't be playing Earthbound on it all the time.

I'm actually a little suprised this hasn't happened sooner... For little recoding, you can sell GC games on the cheap prior to a dedicated wii game (think MP and MP: Echoes re-released on the wii a month or two before MP3 drops) Even if they sold the games at half price ($20~$30) I feel like they'd make bank.

If they include the PS2 bonus content (and maybe a tiny bit extra), I'll probably bite. I rented the GC ver, but never bought it. It was awesome, and I've thought about getting it numerous times since then. This would be the perfect excuse...

RE5 is for PS3 and Xbox 360, like all "big" games in the future.
Something like RE5 is a huge project and re-designing (downsizing) everything just for the Wii (graphics, gameplay, levels, audio etc.) is simply too expensive.
Also, I think that the developers of RE want to move on by now. One can only imagine what they'll think of when they have the power of PS3 and Xbox 360 at their disposal. Especially in this case better graphics should guarantee scarier and more immersive gameplay experience.
