Sonic & Mario finally team up for a game
Long-time rivals Mario and Sonic are finally starring in a video game together ... but too bad it's not what you're expecting. The duo will finally be able to compete against each other in Super Smash Bros. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for Nintendo DS and Wii. All your favorite Mario and not-so-favorite Sonic characters will join the competition: Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, Tails and more.
It appears that famous rivalry between these two 16-bit juggernauts has finally been tossed aside. The press release features some juicy quotes which feel ripped out of the video game Twilight Zone:
"We are thrilled to partner with Nintendo and ISM on this groundbreaking title," said Hisao Oguchi, President and Chief Operating Officer, SEGA Corporation. "For the first time, two of the world's greatest games' characters come together to compete in the world's greatest sporting event and we couldn't be more excited."
"Mario and Sonic have been respectful rivals since the early days of video games," says Shigeru Miyamoto, Senior Managing Director and General Manager, Entertainment Analysis and Development Division, Nintendo Co., Ltd.. "In fact, for a long time they have been discussing the possibility of one day competing against each other. Now that they have been given the perfect opportunity to meet at the Olympic Games, we may finally learn who is actually faster, Mario or Sonic?"
While this isn't the debut we may have wanted for these mascots, we'll take what we can get. Certainly, a competitive game of curling is almost identical to a match of Smash Bros., right? Check out the official website for more.

I can only see this as being a good sign of things to come.
Seriously though - if this isn't gonna be the clincher that all but officially confirms Sonic showing up in Brawl, what else will?
Also - whoa! Sonic and Mario finally going toe to toe. This is like the title-fight people have been waiting 20 years for. Now, I'll finally be able to put an end to those primary schoolyard fights I had when I was 5.

Wow, I hope it turns out good. Anyway, Sonic is easily the faster one but Mario jumps higher.

Helllooo...Sonic can almost match the speed of the DBZ universe!! Are you kidding?
I guess it depends what universe you use. (Sonic X, sonic 1-3 & Knucles, Sonic adv. e.t.c..)

Finally, a collection of minigames for the Wii!

Lets hope it's good... Is it me or am I just holding out for Mario Sunshine and Metroid... this doesn't exactly ding my dong all that much...

This bodes well for the future. With that said, every game released has the potential to be the most entertaining game ever. Let's see where this one stands, God willing.

Awesome! This looks very interesting. ^___^

Mario Sunshine has come out. You probably meant Super Mario Galaxy. Although SSBB is going to be one of the most awesome games, you have to think beyond that. Imagine Sonic joining Mario in his parties and sports? An entire series between Sega and Nintendo. Mushroom Kingdom Hearts. Nights into Dwiims.

Curling is a winter sport and Beijin is a summer Olympics. Guess you'll just have to settle for Judo.

Screw Sonic v. Mario
I want to know: Who is stronger?
Knuckles or Wario?
This is like a fangasm made manifest, as long as it doesn't completely suck, i'll be in on this

No offense to Johnathan Harford's awesome sarcasm, but you can never have enough minigames for a console. Wii is the ultimate party system, and minigames are extremely popular party material. That said, I wish some more intuitive 1P "real" games would debut other than Zelda. It's only a matter of time.

Using Mario and Sonic to revamp their classic track and field game. Such a great move.

Obviously Mario has the advantage here, as Sonic's speed will no doubt be hampered by the Wii's complete lack of proper Blast Processing technology.

Well, its kind of obvious whos going to win this, I mean mario can only get hit once, whereas sonic can get hit, lose his rings, jump in fire, and still be alive for a few seconds proves right there whos better...but, for those of you who didnt get that, if all else fails, sonic can just form into a ball, and run mario the fuck over, like a semi running over an old lady.
annd my last comment. All your favorite Mario and not-so-favorite Sonic characters ...nice biased info there prick. Sonic Is Better Than Mario Period.
