Seriously. Best Buy is having a small-yet-appreciated discount on a few of the Wii launch titles. The following reductions should have already taken place:
- Red Steel - $29.99 (formerly $49.99)
- Super Swing Golf - $29.99 (formerly $49.99)
- Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz - $39.99 (formerly $49.99)
Perhaps not the finest of titles, but the significant price-cuts to
RS and SMB might convince gamers who were on the fence to take the financial plunge. Any of you guys out there going to finally pick one of these titles up? Can we come to your house and play with you (we work for cookies and the occasional mixed drink here)?

Ooo, Red Steel looks mighty good for $30. I'll be picking that one up.

I kinda want red steel for that price, but I've heard terrible reviews. do you guys think it's worth $30????

It is so worth the 30$ if you are able to have 4 player multiplayer matches. That was one of my favorite wii moments. On the other hand if you are just wanting it for solo-eh, It's fun for awhile, but only get it if you have other friends who can play matches with you.

I am buying Pangya. I just rented Tiger Woods and my friend brought over Pangya so we could compare the two. In my opinion, there's no contest. Pangya will be mine at this new fabulous price.

Still falls short of the 2 for $40 sale on Wii games that Zellers in Canada had last weekend.

I wouldn't pass up Red Steel for that price. It's a pretty fun game. The controls take a bit to get use to and the help messages at the start of the game annoy me to no end because they block a lot of the screen and won't go away until you get to the other end of the room.
The graphics aren't as bad as some kids make them out to be. I'd say they were on par with most decent xbox games. Rainbow Six Vegas is my favorite game right now and I had no problem enjoying Red Steel so I really don't think graphics are an issue. Unless you refuse to play anything that looks like it's a year old or older. That's ancient to some people I guess.
As for Monkey Ball...
Eh.. Personally I prefer Super Monkey Ball 2 for the GC.
I really just can't stand how they added the ability to j ump in this new version. They didn't use it sparingly either. The entire freaking game is a huge jumping puzzle. It completely ruins the game for me. It's still somewhat fun to play but it can be really freaking annoying and a bit too hard some times.
Sigh. I want to find out whose idea it was to add jumping to this game and smack 'em. Also the lack of settings for the controller sensitivity is pretty annoying.
It's worth getting for that cheap though. It has a lot of mini games and some of them are fun. I had fun with them when a few other players joined in but got kind of bored playing them alone.

SMB's mini-games are worth it for a party.

of the three i say super swing. it's a fun little game with good controls... although owning both, i find tiger woods to be superior. as for red steel... yeahm that game literally made me vomit. i got motion sickness from the game, i thought it was fun, i enjoyed the story, and overall would have enjoyed it had it not been for the sketchy controls. it may be because i'm a lefty and it made everything just feel off onscreen due to the lack of dominant handedness options. smb is fun, but still isn't worth a purchase for that price, i bought it at launch and just found it to be inferior to past incarnations of the game. the mini games are ok, but most of them feel thrown together. as far as minigames go, smooth moves is where it's at. there we go, i am now two pennies poorer.

You can actually get an extra $5 off any of these (or most other games) at Best Buy pretty easily. In the video games section, they have special "Games" gift cards in the CD cases which have a coupon on the back for $5 off any video game or accessory priced $19.99 or higher. Just get one of these and put like $5 on it, then go back and use the coupon and gift card to get a game or accessory. I've done this several times, even on sale items, and never had a problem.

I think I will just wait and buy them out of the super saver bin in my hearest EB GAmes. I give it another half a year or so. We cannot let the lack of "good" games up front blind us from the fact that better games are coming....
Rubang B @ Mar 20th 2007 8:54PM
Mike, thank you. I will be getting $5 off Pangya now.

@ #5 but did you see how much the Wii system costs up north?
Dakota @ Jul 2nd 2007 11:58PM
I think it is worth is 100% for the $30, i picked it up when i got my Wii on release day and i have always been having fun with the rest of my family in multiplayer. The 1 player is good too.
