Possibility of some Valve action on the Wii
Looks like the folks at Valve are a little late to the Wii party. We can forgive them; after all, they've been busy crafting some of the best games ever. But in this new interview with GameTrailers, Valve's Director of Marketing, Doug Lombardi admits that they didn't really get the console's potential. "I'm just going to be blunt with you -- we missed the Wii," he said. Well, at least he's honest. While Lombardi said they have no plans at the moment to develop anything for the Wii, he did add that he "wouldn't be surprised" if someone came up with an idea they just had to pursue. Well. At least now we have a candidate for today's most vaguely optimistic news award. He did assure us that they are all "super big fans" of Nintendo over there at Valve. We're certainly reassured. Now get in the studio and build us some games! We've included the video after the jump, though the Wii-relevant information is all the way at the end.

They're waiting for a "cool concept"? Oh for god's sake, here's an idea for them (since they apparently can't figure this out): make a console FPS with GOOD controls instead of that dual-thumbstick junk. I'm getting tired of my Perfect-Controller-For-An-FPS Wii choices being limited to:
A. Promising, But Ultimately Rushed And Broken (aka Red Steel)
B. Yet Another WW2 Shooter #754 (aka Call of Duty 3)
C. World's Most Half-Assed Port (aka FarCry)
D. Wait Until 2008 (aka Metroid Prime 3)
And while they're at it, maybe Valve could take this opportunity to make their first FPS that ISN'T ultra-linear (ie, essentially one long glorified hallway from start to finish).
It's always about "pushing the graphical envelope" with these FPS makers...

I want FPS.
Valve does now arcades/adventures - a-la HL2, no dedicated shooters anymore. Though having another adventure would be also nice.
/me dreaming of good ol' Q1/Doom3 on Wii. AND NO MORE FRIGGING GUN RELOADING!!!

All I want in the world is HL2: Ep2 and Portals!!! Narbacular Drop is one of the COOOOOLEST demo's that I have ever played! Valve isn't a company to disappoint (aside from pushing back launch dates, but everyone is guilty of that). They always put out great titles and I would love to see one for the Wii. An FPS would be nice, only because I know they would do it right.
Valve is one of only a few developers that have controlled my gaming experience (Blizzard is another). The gravity gun coupled with the Source engine is enough to make me cry with tears of fun.

Thank you Wii Fanboy! I seem to keep missing Valve interview videos when they pop up on news sites.

Yay for still playing Counter-Strike 1.6. Yay for crappy Pentium 4 2.0 Ghz!
Back on topic: I'd love to see them come out with a sweet FPS with online multiplayer. Especially a Counter-Strike-type game. Even if it was a port, just the thought of it would be sweet.
