Opera browser boxed, demonstrated
Siliconera got a chance to check out the American release of the Opera browser at SXSW, and they handily took some video of the demonstration, so we can see ... what Japanese and European DS users have been seeing for quite some time. We've been waiting so long for this application. Could it really be on the way? They also got some pictures of the US boxart, which says that the DS browser puts "The Internet at your fingertips". That's somewhat of a strange choice of slogan; as far as we can tell, the Internet is always at your fingertips, except when you use a stylus-based input method.

I dunno.
My Sony Clie TH55 browsed quite well with a stylus.
-of course that was using Access's browser.
This is very likely my next DS cart.
That and maybe even that Robotics platform.

Whoa.
I thought this would be a DS cart. It goes in the GBA slot??
Unexpectedly cool! Just make one in black please!

There are two parts to it, a DS cart and a GBA cart.

@ Sancroff
Thanks! I don't know how I missed that but I went back and reviewed.
Still cool.

I'm thinking that this will help me keep track of my fantasy baseball teams. Laptops are nice, but I can fit my DS Lite in my pocket.

As Ive said before, pretty crappy of Opera not to even take the time between Japan/European releases to upgrade the release for the DS. Ive had the European version for a while, ordered it off of eBay. So many improvements could have been made, such as the amount of memory the GBA cart can hold, or possible flash integration, or technical improvements such as how the browser handles code, etc. I could probably think of a few more.
For example. I use DS Opera occasionally to load up walkthroughs and such from GameFAQs to read while Im playing stuff on PS2 in another room of the house. For the most part, DS Opera will not load the entire walkthrough, it usually runs out of memory and only shows about 3/4 of it. Of course all of that depends on the size of the walkthrough itself.
Overall its pretty good. You can load Google Maps with it, Gmail, Myspace, DSFanboy, and all work pretty good, depending on what viewing mode you use.
It just sucks though, the US waited how long? several months? between the Euro release and the release now in the US, and all the company has done is sit on their ass and twiddle their thumbs.
