Wii Warm Up: How many channels?

How many channels do you have on your Wii menu, including downloaded VC games, and how many of those channels do you actually use? We're guilty of downloading games and letting them sit there for a while before we replay them (talking to you, Super Castlevania IV), and there are others that we rarely use at all.

It's probably also fair to say that the latest channel news has been pretty unexpected. We got a channel out of nowhere, and now we're slated to get another channel, the mysterious Popularity Channel. The Wii's only been out six months, and those menu screens are filling up. How many channels do you think will be added by the end of the Wii's first full year?

Dunno how many channels I have, but I do know I would like to see the VC games go under a parent "channel" to clean things up.

The main screen will probably be filled with non-vc channels by the end of the year..

..but I'm curious about the Internet Channel in the post picture. Was the full version released and I missed the news somehow?

I've purchased a bunch of VC titles. A total of 15 channel windows are being used on my Wii. VC titles include: Castlevania 4, Bonk's Adventure, Contra 3, Solomon's Key, Wario's woods, Mario Bros (not SuperMB), and one or two more I can't remember at the moment.

The VC and it's state-saving goodness actually enabled me to finish Castlevania 4, something I have never done before. I couldn't be bothered to write down the stupid codes and then keep track of them.

Right now I have 20 Wii Channels including all of my Virtual Console Downlaods.

I'm actually pretty disappointed that there aren't more -- I haven't gotten any VC games yet (no Classic controller and I only just bought extension cables for my GC controllers), so I only have the basic ones. I don't expect more than ~3 new ones this year, if that...

in case someone has done the math... are there enough vc titles out to fill the number of channel slots that are available? is there enough space on the wii to accommodate enough vc titles to fill the available channel slots?

Just the original ones and Everbody Votes and the Internet Channel. I guess that's about 8? Maybe I'll buy VC games eventually just for the sake of prettying up the menu.

Mario64, Ocarina of Time and all the channels...
I rarely use the news and the weather one, they are too slow to load, if everything is loaded in background, why to wait to connect???

@1: i think they mean 6 months as in america release of the wii. 6 months for america (and japan?), 4 months for Europe

if you do some calculating the wii comes to a lifespan of roughly 4 months in america and 3 and a half months in europe and japan (it got it only 1 week earlier)

nevertheless i have 15 channels (vc: castlevania, (super) mario brothers, super mario world, street fighter, gunstar heroes and some others i can't remember) i would like this games channel to come out soon.

I have 11 channels...

By the way, the Wii came out on November 19th... It has not been out 6 months. It will be 4 months on March 19th. I would say they have done a decent job of getting new channels added in 4 months.

10 channels (regular ones + Ocarina + SMK64 + Opera).
I don't use the Photo channel at all (don't own a SD card) but the rest of them I visit frequently. Just to check how big my parade of Miis has grown or what temperature it is in Ulan Bator (d'uh ... cold). The voting channel is a nice idea but the questions mostly suck. And I definitely can't make a prediction about how many official channels we'll see this year. Who knows what the guys at Big-N will come up with a Sims channel? Chat? Amateur game creator channel? Time will tell (and I will pay :/).

That's a picture from Nintendo. The date is September 14.

Anyway, I have 8- all the free/included channels. I haven't bought any VC games.

I've got all the channels and 3 VC games. I don't use the weather, news or photo channel(I do use it for porn when I can't use my PC. I hope Nintendo bring out an external hard drive fast, I can see my Wii space being taken up real quick(espeically with the Neo-Geo games comeing and many channels this year. We will definately need something to store all our VC games on after 4-5 years of Wii.
