Rumor: Target and Toys R Us hoarding Wiis for Sunday

We are a little wary of Internet rumors, but if they help someone get a Wii, we think it's at least worth giving you the heads-up. According to tipsters working at Target and Toys R Us, both of those chains have been receiving shipments of Wiis to be shelved this Sunday, March 4th. Apparently the Wii availability will be featured in the weekly ad circulars for these retailers.
If you go to check these rumors out and find a Wii, or especially if you don't, please adhere to the following protocol:
- No fighting
- No looting
- No making deals with employees to buy stuff off of the truck
We should all try to avoid anything that would support the negative stereotypes associated with our hobby, and acting like the Tickle-Me Elmo mobs won't help. If in doubt, remember this simple mantra: "Don't do anything that will make TV news."

Look out, Toys-R-Us doesn't just blackball you from their exclusives. These guys send out the toughs and break your legs.
I learned from experience after distributing a flyer in my home town claiming that Toys-R-Us was planning on adding an "adult" toys department.

This would explain why I saw roughly 20 remotes, 20 nunchucks, and 10 classic controllers at my TRU yesterday afternoon.

Since I already have a Wii, I'll shoot for getting $50,000 to open a coffee shop or $8000 to write a novel. Maybe a GED...or PhD!!!!

dunno why, but last time this happened my target didn't have consoles, just wii motes. so i had to go to circuit city. wonder if they'll have it this time.

I saw a bunch of accessories at my local best buy today, but Michael Lesco is hilarious. I love his "Riddleresque" suit.

I can 100% confirm this.
Using the WII locator on Thursday, we noticed that all of our local Targets should have them in stock. My friend rushed to the closest Target and was told they had them but could not sell them until sunday. The Target rep explained that the corporate office sent a letter telling them to hold the WIIs until the next Sunday ad.
I called Target corporate and spoke to "Elizabeth". Elizabeth stated that no such letter had been sent and that if the store had something in stock it should sell the item. She went on to say that she could not enforce this but had another 800 number for me to call. I called that number next and spoke to "Danielle". Danielle provided the usual emapthy and apology but would not call the local store. I had Danielle switch me to her manager. This is where the fun began. I spoke to the manager for about 25 minutes explaining the situation as logically as possible. She confirmed the letter and would not call the local store. I told her that sundays ad also included soap and towels, would you be hoarding those as well? The manager (who kept callng me by my friends name) lost it with me and started gtting angry. I asked her why would you not sell an item that is in stock to a customer who shops there every day? I wanted to know what I was getting back for being a loyal shopper. The manager spewed more bull about Target donating 5% to all its communities. I then asked her "so why do I have pot holes?" started laughng and hung up. I encourage all to call Target and ask about this as well.

Target has wii's yes. Yes we are holding them til sunday. All the stores in my region are doing so, for a number of reasons. We are telling people we are getting some in for Sunday. What that does is it gives people who really want one a chance to actually brave the weather and get one. Another one is given the high demand for the item, it makes it easier to hand out, instead of having people fight over them in the store. It's also in the ad. If any company prints something in the ad, they better damn well have it in stock for the start date. Other wise instead of just getting one or two people complain that we're OMG holding product(that is ours to do as we please mind you...we paid for it, you didn't yet) we'll have more complaining about not having it at all. So, if you REALLY want one, wait your turn. Or better yet, hit up ebay if you dont feel like waiting the extra 2-3 days for an ad to come out. Do you want us to start selling new releases when we get them too? Since technically we have them in stock, so why the hell not...right? Point is, don't get your panties in a twist because you cant get something you want right away. Deal with it.
