Data Design Interactive, a UK-based development studio, has apparently announced it is currently developing for Nintendo's Wii console. This news comes from
EL33TONLINE, who report that six of the company's games are being ported over to the console, however the company's official
website lacks any information supporting this claim. The six titles that are apparently being ported are:
- Billy the Wizard
- Myth Makers Super Kart GP
- Ninjabread Man
- Anubis II
- Monster Trux Extreme
- Elviz: Rock and Roll Adventures
We have never played, nor heard of, any of these titles before. We suppose it's good to hear about another Wii supporter. What do you all think?

Ninjabread man? That game sounds like it has the potential to be amazing! Are you a ninja made out of bread? I can't imagine what this game would be like.
I don't know about the other 5 though. Billy the Wizard could be cool, or really corny.

I hate to tell you this matt but Ninjabread man is on the PS2 in Europe. In fact all of these are on the PS2 in Europe. Nothing new here.

These games are mostly ports. Google them up.
Billy the Wizard is a racing game using brooms as the vehicle. Terrible Reviews.
Ninjabread Man pits you as a gingerbread ninja fighting cupcakes and other desserts. Looks awful.
Anubis II got terrible reviews (4/10 style) and I didn't bother looking to see what its about.
Super Kart looks like a generic Mario-Kart knock-off which won't see much Wii play with the legions of first party faithful waiting for our racing plumber's Wii debut.
Monster Trux and Elviz didn't yield much in a quick search. The names alone preclude them from even being rented in my home.
The only good I can see of Nintendo picking this developer up is that the Wii aisle at Best Buy will get longer and the haterz will have less argument for "No Third Party Support!!1!"

I'm still a little wary of ports onto the Wii. While I thoroughly enjoyed Marvel:Ultimate alliance, the motion controls felt like an add on, though the simple act of turning the controller to control the camera felt like the most natural thing ever. Hopfully original wii content (I'm thinking elebits.... but better) will push what can be done with the wiimote. At this time, I don't see any ported games being able to do this.

To all those thinking "it is better than nothing", no it's not. If the ratio of bad games to good ones is too high, that can leave an impression that the system doesn't have any or enough good titles. The same thing happened with the N64 and Gamecube since the majority of third party support was in the form of lame ports and children's licenses... and we know what happened there.
Luckily (for those of us who want more than lame ports and kids titles), the ports and kids stuff have done poorly so far while the more engaging titles like Rayman (311K US sales), Red Steel (308K), and Madden (270K) are big hits. (A couple of quick notes on Madden Wii - it's sold a great number considering how late in the season it came out, that the GC version only sold 325K, and the PS3's sales stand at 308K.)
In the end, Data Design can keep their games if they're crap. We've always got Midway and THQ piling on the shovelware.

The Wii just has far too many games like this... Kids' games of questionable quality that nobody's going to want to play. A lot of it's movie-based stuff, too. Barnyard? Ice Age? Chicken Little? It's sad that titles like this make up such a large portion of the Wii's gaming library. If developers would step up and make realistic games for the system, I think people would love it. But we'll probably never see a title to match something like Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport, simply because this is a Nintendo console. Capcom's already made the statement that they think the Wii will be a kids' system (more or less), so they were going to focus their resources in that direction. I don't know. I don't much like the direction that developers seem to be taking this system. The Wii's got too much potential to be slapped with the title "kiddie system" and stuck in a corner with the Gamecube and the GBA. Okay, I'm done with my rant now.

I've got Ninjabread man on the PC, bought it from a place called poundland (everything on sale for £1). It's ruddy awful, it looked great on the box so i snapped it up but as it turns out it's very badly designed. The camera controls are pretty useless and took me ages to figure out and also i can't get off the first level as i fall through the floor in one place that i have to go through... It's about £10 on the PS2 and i'm shocked and would want someone's head on a plate if i'd paid that much for it!
