Holy crap: Beyond Oasis confirmed for VC, some other Sega games too
You read that headline right, Beyond Oasis (which spawned the, we think, better sequel Legend of Oasis on the Saturn) is headed to a Virtual Console near you some time in the future. Whether you share our opinion or not is without relevance, however one cannot argue with the fact that Beyond Oasis was one of the best action-adventure, let alone best overall, titles to grace Sega's Genesis system.Of course, the game is not alone, as Sega has announced that it will be joined by Sonic Spinball, Sword of Vermillion and Vectorman. This begs the question: what other Genesis titles are you hoping will grace the Virtual Console or, like us, are you thinking it's about time we see some Sega CD games on there? Do you think we would be charged more Wii Points for Sega CD games?

I'm sure there are fans of the Lunar series that would love to see the Sega CD versions re-released. I haven't played the originals but I love the PlayStation remakes.
I'd like to see Sonic CD, as I've never played that one either. I know it's available in the Sonic Gems collection (which I'm sure is "Wii-compatible" ;) but I'd rather just get Sonic CD alone, preferably for 800 Wii points, like Genesis games.

I'd really like it if we saw some Sega CD or Saturn titles. Granted, we most likely won't, because that would actually require effort on Nintendo or the developers' part.
Beyond Oasis is probably my favorite of Genesis. It'll be the first VC title I buy.
Nushio @ Feb 22nd 2007 9:50PM
As Cal said, it requires effort from either Sega or Nintendo, so they won't do it.
Assuming they do, they'd charge 1000 or 1200 for each.

For some reason, I got a big ole soft spot in my heart for Decap Attack.

Bring on Sega Rally and Daytona!

I don't see much work needed to compress stuff - that is basic. The only limitation is the size of the games. A announcement of hard drive support at GDC would go quite well with Sega CD games for download.
And hey, GameCube games are just 1.5 GB, so why not?

One word: Landstalker
Brilliant game. Brilliant.

Just as a side note: Nearly all of the now available and upcoming Genesis games on the VC are also on GameTap. So really if you find yourself buying a lot of these Genesis games you might want to look into GameTap to save yourself some money.

I'm just happy that vectorman is coming. I use to have alot of fun playing it.
bleg38@yahoo.com @ Feb 23rd 2007 12:29AM
I love Vectorman. Had so much fun playing it as a kid trying to get that prize money. I will definitely download it. I think I would like to see more sonic though. As the "mario" for the genesis, sonic feature games made the platform. Don't get me wrong, I love the original sonic, and play it often, but I would like to see sonic 2 (where you could charge your dash). I would also like to see sonic and knuckles (because playing as knuckles was fun). After those they might as well just go ahead and throw in sonic 3 for good measure.

Herzog Zwei, X-Men, and Aladdin on Genesis, Sonic CD, Sewer Sharks and Night Trap on the Sega CD. I know Sewer Sharks and Night Trap sucked, but it's not like Sega CD owners had a whole lot to choose from back then...

As long as people are already mentioning Sega CD and Saturn games, Nights. Yeah. I went there.
Oh, and Micheal Jackson's Moonwalker. I'm serious here. I would gladly spend eight bucks on that.
UpIrons @ Feb 23rd 2007 8:35AM
I'm going to be laughed at for this but I would actually like to see The Haunting (starring polterguy) for Genesis. I know, I know...
Also would really like to see all the SegaCD titles make it on there but I doubt it will happen anytime soon. I wish Nintendo used that darn vote channel to ask us what games we'd really like to see on the VC.
Spencer @ Feb 23rd 2007 9:34AM
I NEED SATURN TITLES! I really wish that they would put Saturn games on, I would be all over Saturn Bomberman, Bug!, Bug Too!, Sega Rally Championship, Pandemonium, and DEFINITELY, Nights.
Miranda @ Feb 23rd 2007 3:54PM
Shadowrun.
That is all.
Mike B @ Feb 23rd 2007 5:40PM
General Chaos. Best game for Genesis besides Toe Jam and Earl.

Much as I would like it, there's no way they'll be putting disc-based games on the VC. The Wii's internal flash mem is only 512MB - even with compression that would fill up insanely fast. Plus, it already takes about nearly a full minute just for cart based games around 1MB-ish. It would take forever to save a disc based games (even with compression).
