Gotta pre-catch 'em all: Pokemon preorder bonuses
If you've been on the fence about this whole Pokémon thing, just waiting to be convinced about the monster-collecting genre (thus giving away your rock-underside-located residential status) then Nintendo knows just how to tempt you: free junk. Preorder the new DS Poké-games, Diamond and Pearl, from the Gamestop -EB mega-retail conglomerate and you'll be rewarded with a stylus! Also included is a ... stylus ... holder! It's a holder for your stylus! (Back in our day, we had stylus holders too. We called them DSes.)Naturally, both of these items are decorated with Pokemans, so friends who come anywhere near your DS-wielding hand or your designated DS Accessories Storage Area will be tipped off about your pathological need -- your addiction -- to catch 'em.
Also, it wouldn't be Pokémon if there were no incentive to buy both games -- in the case of these bonuses, the styli each have a different little Poké-mascot on top: Dialga for the Diamond version and Palkia for the Pearl version. We assure you that those are real Pokémon names and not rare diseases. Or maybe both? We don't have medical degrees.

Does anyone know if the styluses are for the phat or the lite? Or can you choose?

My guess is that they don't fit into the stylus slot, hence the otherwise-totally-useless stylus holder.

Completely off topic but I have a few questions I would like to be answered. How much is a DS in the U.S? How much are the games? And does the wi-fi connection let you play against people anywhere? What are the differences between the DS Lite and just a standard DS? I dont mean to bother you guys. I am just now starting to look into handheld gaming and noticed how much enthusiasim about the DS. Thanks for your time.

I'm glad I got my Diamond pre-order in early, I'm fairly confident I'll be able to get a hold of one. I should probably put in a Pearl pre-order for my girlfriend too, now.

I think a DS Lite is $130 here, and a regular DS is something like $100 or $110. Games are generally $35.
I think Wi-Fi connection lets you play with anyone, but I'm not positive. the new Pokemon games let you play internationally, but I've never tried with other Wi-Fi games, so I can't be sure. Bear in mind that there are relatively few Wi-Fi games out there, most of them only allow for local multiplayer.
The only real difference between the original DS and the DS Lite is that the Lite is smaller, and has a brighter screen. I don't think the difference is really worth upgrading for, but if you don't have a DS already, it's worth the extra $20 or so to get a Lite.

$130 USD!? What the hell, DS Lites in the UK go for 100! That's around $200 USD. DS phat... You'd be lucky to find one of them around. Games for the DS here are 29.99 usually, about $60. Somehow I feel we're being screwed... Oh silly me, I'm in Europe, of COURSE we're being screwed. Almost forgot for a second there.
