New My Sims Wii details emerge

By way of CVG, we're given more details on the upcoming installment in The Sims franchise headed to the Wii. Many thought that the game would incorporate Miis, but that rumor was debunked awhile back. Regardless, we knew this wouldn't be your average game of the The Sims when we first saw the game in action. Still, it looks fun and we're looking forward to it.

As for these new details, they include:

A total of 80 characters will be available to the Wii version of the game
The game starts in a pretty crummy town, where upon fixing it up, you'll attract more residents
All of the usual character customization returns: clothes, facial features, etc.
The game emphasizes relationships and charges the player with constantly maintaining them
Players may create their own furniture, houses and accessories through a block-building system
There's a volcano

So, anyone excited for this game?

Eh... I'm a huge Sims 2 player... So I find the childish look of the game to be quite a turn-off. I really wish they made a sims 2 game for the Wii... it would work so much better with the wii controls, I think, than it does with any other system. It just seems so cheap to me that they're making the game look all animal-crossing-like.

This game looks kinda cool, but I think I'd rather wait for animal crossing, since it will (or at least it BETTER!) have online modes.

Sounds like a Mii/Sims/Animal Crossing/Viva Pinata (attracting new residents) mongrel to me. But I guess that's been obvious since EA announced it.

I plan on buying this for my girlfriend as soon as it comes out.
I'd rather have a Wii version of Animal Crossing, but this looks close enough!

as someone who's a huge sims fan, huge animal crossing fan, and--of course--wii fan, i'm really looking forward to this. i've tried sims on consoles (and ds) before and have really disliked them because ea just doesn't seem to be able to create a satisfying console (or handheld) experience. they're never anything like the sims. i'm hoping they'll be able to pull off something better w/ this title. i like the look of the game, from what i've seen so far.

as an aside: i've been kind of assuming that there will be an animal crossing title for the wii. i mean, why wouldn't they? it seems like it would be awhile before we'd see that, though, since i think ac:ww is still going pretty strong.
