Wii Fanboy takes you through the Everybody Votes Channel

We've been receiving lots of emails asking for more in-depth coverage of the new Everybody Votes Channel that has just hit the Wii and we are happy to oblige. Included, past the post break, is a short video taking you through registering a Mii and participating in a few polls, as well as the prediction area and stats screens.

wow. well im definitely in no rush to download this channel lol. that looks like it would be interesting for like 5 minutes. i like the "thinking outside the box" approach, one that seems to be becoming synonymous with Nintendo, but i think this is a swing and a miss. the reviewer sounded pissed that he had to do it lol. come on Nintendo, i have faith in you!

You guys live in Pennsylvania too?
Wild...
Derka @ Feb 15th 2007 10:54AM
Pennsylvania. Kickass!

It's a simple concept and if worked right through Nintendo, could prove to be a massive sampling population to keep their finger on the pulse of what's popular.
colin ballast @ Feb 14th 2007 8:53PM
I downloaded it myself simply because it sounded interesting, and I have to say that Nintendo can do a LOT better than this. I think that there will be better channels to come, hopefully. In the meantime, I'm going to use this to harrass Nintendo about friend codes with the "suggest a poll" feature.
Mr Khan @ Feb 14th 2007 9:13PM
@ colin Ballast: Good idea
as i said in a previous thread, my guess is, on Nintendo's end, they just randomly draw a poll from Suggestions, screen it for appropriateness, and let it run
If enough people suggest it, chances of a friend code/ Online play question would increase

Not terribly impressed and they can do better, but hey kind of cool.
If I had a Wii, I'd download it.
Falcobird @ Feb 15th 2007 10:02PM
I think you guys are missing the point here. Give credit to Nintendo - they released a new channel out of nowhere. You may not think it's that interesting of a channel, but it proves that Nintendo is trying new things and that (hopefully) we will have other new and innovative channels to look forward to in the future.
ghnvt @ Feb 15th 2007 11:02AM
I definitely think that this channel has potential. Maybe they could make decisions about what people want through this. Kind of like a marketing survey for nintendo to use.
Steve 3.2 @ Feb 14th 2007 11:42PM
The Wii is quickly turning into the console version of USA Today with quick links to weather, news, and now a daily poll. Many hardcore users may not like the simple presentation, but that paper isn't America's most popular for no reason.
Pikachelsea @ Feb 15th 2007 12:01AM
Haha, wtf? People actually demanded a video EXPLAINING this? The set-up for this channel couldn't possibly be simpler. All he's doing in the video is reading outloud what it says on the screen. How is this necessary or useful at all? It's not that complicated, folks.
fraxyl @ Feb 15th 2007 2:43AM
Pikachelsea, not everybody has a Wii and therefore may be thinking "What the hell is it?"
Sure, it's a poll, but if you've never used it, the specifics are great.
I have a Wii, but it's not online, so I had no idea what it was either.
Rob @ Feb 16th 2007 6:49PM
comon' people, this could be a fun/simple channel to give Nintendo insight on running online gaming on the Wii. We'll see!
Jayenkai @ Feb 15th 2007 4:42AM
My first thought was "Oooh, Cool, It'll be like Cosmic Consensus" But it's not.
It's just not fast paced enough to be like Cosmic Consensus.
If the polls took hours, rather than days, then it'd be more "Game" like. Perhaps they could add hourly polls as well, just to keep the pace up a little.

I just love the fact that Nintendo is keeping this drip feed going. It feels like a real departure for them as a company to pay so much attention to something that directly communicates with their users.
I was also impressed with the updates to existing Virtual Console titles, to fix bugs etc. I really wasn't expecting this level of on-going support from the big N. Nice job!
The_Wind_Waker8 @ Feb 15th 2007 8:37AM
I downloaded it just to start filling my Wii menu with channels. ^_^
Jack Doyle @ Feb 15th 2007 1:36PM
Anyone else having trouble with Everybody Votes channel "receiving data" today? It keeps giving me an error code saying there is a problem with the WiiConnect24 service.
However, after a while, it did have the results to the vote from yesterday, though.
Justin @ Feb 15th 2007 5:49PM
I got the message, clicked on update, let it update and voila! No new channels! Tried to update again...you already have the latest update! Hmmmm....guess my Wii isn't voter compatible.
Michael @ Feb 15th 2007 3:46PM
Yeah, its not so bad. And a step in the right direction at least. Now If only you could condense your vc titles by console....
Dann @ Feb 15th 2007 5:31PM
yes! i can now voice my opinion on things that don't matter.
i'm stoked.
aki @ Feb 16th 2007 1:45AM
This channel was done all wrong. Too much clicking loading and confirmation. It should just be question after question with both your choice and prediction on the same screen.
Bam, Bam, next, Bam, Bam, Next... and so forth.
Needs work.
ByungSuk @ Feb 16th 2007 11:28PM
This Channel can be used to get more people to use the Wii on a regualer basis. Not everyone that uses the Wii will use it for just gaming. Weather and New Channel shows that. Sure asking if you like "cats or dogs".. isn't very.. Oh wait!!! It could! They could make a "Nintencats" games for the DS this time. Maybe these lame questions have secret hidden purposes for marketing reasons? I don't know but there is a lot of ways to get information from consumers. Remember there are "direct and indirect" ways of getting consumer feedback.
