Flashback creator working on Wii title with Eric Viennot
As far as news goes, this is one of the most exciting bits of news for us in recent memory. See, Flashback was one of our very favorite games on the SNES during our pre-teen years, as we helped a man with no memory navigate the dangers of New New York. It was an amazing title and now, with the confirmation of its creator Paul Cuisset working on a new Wii title alongside Eric Viennot, we're pretty sure we'll have to go on a murderous rampage should something prevent this great union of minds from creating their proposed game on the Wii.While we're discussing it, would you download Flashback if it were made available on the Virtual Console?

Hell ya I'd download flashback, Another world too!

I remember playing this game when I was in middle school. It had a great mature vibe to it(almost felt like a pc game that had been ported to the SNES) and a really cool atmosphere. There's something uniquely fun about those side scrolling platform-puzzlers(Out of this world, Prince of Persia, Blackthorne)

yes, yes, and hells yes. I'd take Flashback, Fade to black, or even Out of this World. Anything by Delphine software.

Both games were and remain timeless classics, but I was a bit surprised to go back through Another World a few years ago, and, knowing how to solve all the puzzles, get through the whole mess in under 3 hours. I'd like to play them again, but don't know if I'd pay the full SNES price ($8, right?) for each -- maybe if they sold both bundled together for that much...

You bet I would DL it, as well as its predecesor, which I think the above poster was trying to reference as well, though I'm pretty sure it was called "Out of This World" ;)

Flashback was probably my very favorite game of the 16bit era. It was revolutionary in just about every way. Great puzzles, action, and 3d polygon cut scenes! Plus, for some reason just running around shooting the gun and doing combat rolls was entertaining! Without question this needs to be on the VC. I would buy it in a heartbeat.
karuko @ Feb 1st 2007 4:14PM
bowen it depends where you are from.
Another World was named Out of This World in the US because "The game was released in the United States under the title Out of this World to avoid confusion with the popular unrelated, soap opera called Another World. Ironically, a science fiction sitcom called Out of This World aired at the same time of the game's US release." (taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Another_World_(video_game))
Anyways, I already play this game on my mobile phone

Hell yeah, I'd download it - I could never get my hands on anything more than a demo back in the day - didn't stop me from playing through the first few screens of the game about 50 times.
I'd be very excited about a game from a pairing like that. Very excited indeed.
Exciting times should be on the way, people - so many awesome Wii projects in the pipeline, and so many of them nearing completion.

Flashback was great. I also would like Blackthorne

This game was so awesome back in the day that I went to EB games(or whatever it was called in the 90's and paid a whopping 79.99 for it. Man and people think the cost of games is bad now a days. I still can't believe it cost that much but it was worth it. Great game.
chenry @ Feb 1st 2007 9:14PM
I wouldn't, but that's because I have the computer version of it...

I loved Flashback. I have very fond memories of playing it as a kid. The second this comes out on the VC I will buy it. A Wii game by the creator would be great.
Fabien @ Feb 2nd 2007 3:33AM
I'm a bit late but:
JW, It *was* a PC game ported to the SNES.
Loweded Wookie @ Feb 2nd 2007 6:58AM
I would in a flash. Back in the day I played this game on the Amiga and loved it.
I love the fact that Nintendo is bringing back much of the old gameplay.
Can't wait to see what this new title is if/when it gets released.
Abscissa @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:01AM
Yay! They used "pre-teen" instead of that "tween" language-monstrosity! :) (Just to be clear: I'm not being sarcastic)
fraxyl @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:10AM
This is most excellent news. Can't wait to find out some actual information about the game. :)
piwozniak @ Feb 2nd 2007 12:33PM

I would definitely download Flashback if it were released on the virtual console. And I'm curious about this new game...
Mick @ Feb 5th 2007 10:11AM
I never had an SNES (I was a Sega kid, this wasn't on the Sega was it?) but my friend did and he owned this game. It was always something I wanted to play, but he'd rather play F-Zero or Mario Kart, so I'd only get to play for a few minutes until he got bored of me screwing up.
I would love to get a chance to play this, after I finally buy my Wii.
John @ Feb 5th 2007 12:31PM
That's it. I'm buying a Wii.
Virtua Fanboy @ Feb 5th 2007 12:30PM
Ya it was on Sega Genesis first, then SNES. I loved that game. I might even buy a Wii just to get that game on VC. (MAYBE, LOL) Here's to hopeing for a Live Arcade release.
