Poll results: did you get a Wii yesterday?

Last week, we asked if you were lucky enough to walk out of the store with a Wii and it looks like many of you have. Sadly, however, the majority of you either did not even try (for shame!) or were just unlucky. It's sad and, although we totally have Wiis out the wazoo, we feel your pain. We envelope ourselves in it like so many thick, warm blankets, sweating our disdain for the world out of every pore in our skin as we quietly sob, staring at the empty space in the living room where the Wii is destined to be placed.
Look on the bright side, every week major retail outlets should be getting Wiis (the Wal-Mart in our area confirmed this), so keep trying! You'll get one sooner or later ...

No, I got one on launch, but I finally got my hands on another nunchuck and I pulled myself together and bought Rayman Raving Rabbids. I spent 5 hours on that game last night, and I still can't get enough.

I got mine Sunday. Last one on the shelf at a local Circuit City.

Perhaps so many people voted "I didn't even try" because they already own Wiis and you didn't bother to provide an option for them. So since they technically didn't try, since they didn't need to, that was their choice.

My dad apparently bought one at my local Wal-mart. I'm from a small town first of all, and I was able to arrive 6:30am on Black Friday at GameStop and get mine. Anyway, my dad was at Wal-mart running some errands and looked at the newspaper and saw they were advertising Wii's.
He goes to the electronics and he told me the man showed him four boxes. So I asked, "oh they only had four systems?" And my dad responded, "No, they had four boxes... I don't know how many systems were in each box."
That's right folks, four cases of Wii's with no one claiming them. Hooray for small towns. If you want a Wii, head over to the nearest small town near you.

The EB Games in Cambridgeside Galleria in Boston, MA said that they've haven't seen a rise in shipments yet- no more than four or five consoles a week, which are snatched up immediately.
In other words, :(

I got my Wii last Tuesday. I was checking iTrackr and I noticed that the local Circuit city changed it's status to having inventory.
I called the wife on the cell and she just so happened to be in the area. I told her I know they have them in stock so just buy the console for 250 and do not buy the extended warranty.
She walks into CC and the guy who check the receipts tells her they have no Wii's. Being a smart gal, she ignores him and asks where customer service is. He directs her to a customer service "lady" who doesn't even look up at my wife, but just mumbles that they don't have any stock. My wife makes a big fuss because she thinks that they have Wii's in stock and they're lying to her. Little does she know that I have no idea either, I just know what iTrackr tells me ;-).
The CS "lady", who god knows how got a job in CS if she feels it's beneath her to help customers, tells her that the store's website is always wrong and not to trust it. That's another good job.. telling the customer that your online store is crap. lol.
Anyway, on the way out, the store "Director" which I guess is the new name for manager stops my wife and says he has a few in the back. He goes and gets someone with a key and they open the door together as if they're going to launch some nukes. He grabs a box, chiecks the serial number against a spreadsheet [launch codes?] and says to my wife, here you go!. She brings it up to pay and then the cashier/sales guy pesters her FOUR times to buy the extended warranty. Again, being a smart gal, she says no. The guy then says well, let me take the Wii up to the front for you, but she denies him and says that she'll hold it. At that point, just about everyone in the store starts asking where are the Wii's and how did she get one. A Wii riot was sure to ensue!
Got the Wii and we're having a great time with my 5 and 3 year old. They actually don't want to play, but like to watch me play, which I guess is good. hehe. We actually spend more time playing Mario64 than the Wii games.

I was browsing in Target the other day and saw three in the case. I called my husband to check if anyone at his office was still looking to score one. "How many are there?" He asked. "Three", I said, turning around to look again -- and, uh-oh, 2 minutes after spotting them there was now only one.
I snagged the last one for a co-worker of his who'd been trying to get himself one for his birthday. Poor Target employee who opened the case for me said, sadly "Well, I guess I'm not getting one today."

This poll makes me wonder why there is no "I already got one" option.
And do not forget the "I'm from Europe, I could have already bought 20 if I wanted to" option, since ... well... you got the point ;-)

No I don't get the point. I am from Europe and was lucky enough to find one on Amazon one week from launch but I have two friends at work that can't find one, let alone 20 (unless you are willing to pay eBay prices which they wisely are not).
So what was the point then?
JAT @ Jan 31st 2007 3:08PM
I guess demand/supply differs by region then...
As far as I can tell, when I last checked there have been a bunch of them in every store around here (Austria that is).
Sorry for the missinterpretation though :-/

I cry myself to sleep every night because I don't have the cash to get one.
Joe @ Feb 2nd 2007 8:28AM
Got mine at W*M at 12:01 Sunday morning.
Now my new obsession is finding an additional Wiimote and the component cables!!!
