Wii is official console of Six Flags
Nintendo and Six Flags have announced an agreement today, which will see Nintendo's popular console placed for play inside of select Six Flag parks. The console will be available for free play on Wii stations set up in the winning parks. With Six Flags' 26 different parks, none is confirmed to be receiving the Wii at this moment. Nintendo will, in turn, promote Six Flags through a future contest on Nintendo.com.Six Flags CEO Mark Shapiro comments on the agreement, stating that he wants Nintendo's audience in his parks. "When this audience is not in our parks, more often than not they are at home playing video games -- and now they can do both in one place."

How are they going to keep people from stealing the Wii remotes?

I just can't see this as a very good idea... I mean, what's the point of going to an amusement park, paying admission, etc. to play video games? C'mon, people, ride the rides, lose at carnival games, get your pictures taken with characters you've never heard of!

They are going to put small explosives on them that detonate if they leave the park property.

I don't think the goal is to get gamers to come to the park. I think it's Nintendo's free advertising they get. People eating cotton candy, walking by, and going "Whoa, it's that newfangled Nintendo gadget with the motion thingie." It works really well at the local mall. A couple times I've seen people just walking by and have their jaws drop when they see people bowling and boxing and tennising. Then they always ask "How much is it?" "Really?" "Do you have it?" "Damn.... sold out."
So to pay for this, Nintendo will advertise for Six Flags in some way. It's just that the Six Flags guy's quote about getting gamers to the park makes it seem the other way around.
