Details on Sim Crossing
Er, we mean Sims Wii. We can't help but compare it to Animal Crossing, though, both in look and gameplay, since there's a very definite fusion effect going on here. EA's taking a cue from a winner, though, and obviously looking to appeal to Japanese audiences.
Many thought that Sims Wii might incorporate Miis, but that isn't the case. The character design is similarly simplified, with a focus on the facial features of the childlike characters. And rather than resorting to thought bubbles or the pee-pee dance, these new sims will use those detailed faces to demonstrate their changing moods. Animal Crossing's influence permeates the way this Sims is to be played, as well -- you'll build everything, from residences to business, and don't forget the landscaping. That's totally okay with us, as the building was always the best part of the Sims series.

You hear that Nintendo, terrain customization! Same with house customization and all that.
I just hope Animal Crossing lets us use our Miis to some degree...

Hmm... I don't really know about the art style, but if I have one thing to say, it's that I know that the Wii is capable of a much higher polygon count. Yea... I know that the Wii is not meant to be a graphical powerhouse, but if Pokemon Battle Revolution's trainers show anything, it's that the Wii is capable of pretty smooth models while still retaining a simple, cutesy style. Just saying... the Wii's launch titles are all out, now show us what the Wii can do (Nintendo has Pokemon Battle Revolution out in Japan NOW, and it is the most beautiful looking game on the Wii that I've seen).

It's pedophilia, sims were grown up for a reason, remember the different codes and skins that u could get to mod it. You can't do that in this game or it's pedopilia.

@Metayoshi: Wii games with lousy graphics are selling just fine. Even Zelda was a Gamecube port without anything extra... not even anti-aliasing, which would've only required the flip of a switch. What incentive do developers have to make good graphics?
With Wii, it's all about keeping your initial investment low. That's been Nintendo's siren song for quite a long time.

I'm a big fan of Sims and Animal Crossing so I'll probably pick this up but I suspect it'll feel more like an updated animal-less AC than a Sims game.

Well if this is what they are putting on the Wii with their most popular title ever, what will they make Spore look like?

Nasty graphics! My emo sims will look awful on it from that triple layer studded belt to their hair covering one eye and skin tight pants and I bet they don't make out in this game!

Hmmm... Honestly, this looks like crap. One thing I love about the Sims is how lifelike it is. But this; this just looks like crap.

If you take a look at the trailer and the japapese site, you'll notice the animations are very smooth and all parts of the characters have really perfect curves to them...this requires a very very high polygon count.
It takes a large number of TRIANGLES to make CIRCLES...don't you agree? People in reference to Wii games keep going on about how crappy the graphics are on all the games, they aren't crappy at all, it's just the developers are using all these cartoony styles, which yes, while they do look simple can actually require more video processing power than a more realistic character or object (most realistic characters in games are many flat surfaces with bump mapping, complex textures, and other lighting "tricks" to make them look more detailed (yes, even shiny ps3 games) But even with a game like this where the textures are basic, the 3d modelling of the characters and complexity of some of the animations seen in that video (almost claymation like) require more processing power than the detailed textures because it all has to be processed as a 3d object.
So in defense of the Wii and the developers of games like this, the graphics are actually very impressive, and something that would have actually been hard or even impossible to do on the previous iterations of systems.
Sorry for the slight rant there at the end, it's just I keep seeing all these comments on sites about the Wii being a gamecube with a new controller when in fact, though it is weaker than the other 2 current generation systems, it is also far more powerful than the gamecube, ps2, and xbox. It's just all the teenagers posting on these sites don't understand how computers work and how 3d modelling works.
