WRUP: avoiding the relatives and hiding in the closet with our DS edition

For us, and we assume a lot of you, this weekend will be filled with Christmas activities and visiting relatives to catch up. We're fine with that and bring our DS Lite in tow as a back-up in case things get too boring (they usually do). Now, you may be wondering But there is Friday and Saturday to play games, so what will you do then? You're right, but you forgot to account for our
So that leaves us with Sunday, where we'll be visiting our relatives (who undoubtedly will attempt to squeeze our cheeks). That means we'll have to duck somewhere quiet and do what we do best: stomp Goombas and find contradictions in witness testimony. Our extended family isn't much into gaming, you see ...
What about you? Is your family all about gaming, meaning your Christmas weekend (or any other holiday you celebrate) will be filled with some multiplayer gaming? What are you playing?

Still FFIII
I can't help it if I'm clueless. I'm workin' on it!

This reminds me, I still have a lot of games to beat. This weekend will be all about everyone's favorite lawer and a lot of Elite Beat Agents, just to show off the greatness of the DS to the family. Seriously, how much fun is that game?
Monday, after I give my mom her very own DS, we will likely get into tetris or some clubhouse games.
Happy Holidays!

I'm off to Boston for Christmas with my girlfriend's family, and I'll be the only gamer in the house for four whole days. I've got my DS packed, and I'm taking Elite Beat Agents (stuck on the damn 3-star "Material Girl" right now), Gunpey DS, and I'm going to start DQH: Rocket Slime. I'll probably take Wario Ware and Big Brain in case the family wants to try something too.

I'm off work now for two weeks and plan to catch up on a lot of pent-up DS gaming. My oldest son (11) was home from school TODAY because of a high fever YESTERDAY, so naturally he and I were fragging ALL today in Metroid Prime Hunters, both in DS-to-DS and NinWiFi modes. (As Sylux and Trace, we are a formidable team.) My younger son (9) just got home, so naturally -- all three of us will shortly be fragging for the rest of the evening in MPH! My wife really hates Nintendo on days like this.
I've also spent a good bit of today immersing myself in the game IGN just voted "Best DS Game Nobody Played in 2006" -- Over The Hedge. My sons have had a copy gathering dust since summertime, and I completely agree with IGN -- it is a suprisingly engaging AND challenging game. I will stick with OTH until Christmas morning when (hopefully), Santa will deposit Clubhouse Games and Elite Beat Agents under the tree for me!

Since I'm traveling, I've loaded up my Gamefly with DS games: Final Fantasy III for the long haul Christmas blues, and Clubhouse Games for shorter term, or if I need something comprehensible to relatives. And the New Super Mario game and Advance Wars from my collection - I can never get enough Advance Wars!
The timing is rather painful for a two week away from home, since I just snagged a Wii with my mad ninja skills, but it won't show up until the day after I leave. Woe! Well, the woe of delayed gratification, at least.
Hopefully, some new games will show up in my possession before the holiday is out, too.

My DS is still not getting a lot of play lately... ACWW in the mornings, MKDS for the game night (yay! but something else, please)...
I've still got a few games that I haven't squeezed the final drops of new gameplay out of - heck, I never even finished the normal campaign in Advance Wars DS...
I've just not have the time/energy/motivation to play much recently. Too much PC and social stuff to do!

I'll dust off my PS2 in hopes of getting Guitar Hero as a gift. Until then, it's just Portrait of Ruin and Elite Beat Agents (ffs, I quit playing this game for a week and now can barely get a B rank.)

Got all my Christmas shopping done (whew!), so I'm going to recuperate from all my shopping-related injuries (bruised elbows from knocking people out of the way of the last copy of Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, sore tongue from swearing at other drivers in the parking lot) over the next few days with Portrait of Ruin, Kirby Squeak Squad, and Yoshi's Island DS.

I finally beat FF-III! The ending theme was sound entrancing...Now I play it in short bursts to lvl up my job classes...I still don't know what those stars mean. Anybody know? Animal Crossing gets my attention most of the day, with MK in between, and after Christmas, I'll kicking ass in space in StarFox Command. (I wanted RE but could not find it anywhere.)

I am going to be working my new DS Lite tomorrow morning with Tetris DS and Advance Wars DS. When I get my money right. I am getting Mario Kart DS and Elite Beat Agents. Maybe Big Brain for my thinking.
