Break out the retro, folks
With your classic NES and SNES games on the Virtual Console, you (generally) have three options. You can plug in that silly classic controller, and have the Wiimote sit awkwardly on your lap. You can use a Gamecube controller, with its a-bit-too-complex-for-old-school button layout. Or, you can turn your Wiimote on its side for simplistic button configurations. None of these solutions are quite perfect, and fail to evoke that sense on controller nostalgia for which we so long.Ready for ten tons of cool? Electronic badasses over at RetroZone have made two ever-so-simple adapters that allow you to plug in an NES or SNES controller directly into the Wii's Gamecube controller ports, for use with VC titles. That's right. Your original controllers of awesomeness will work as they once did. And only $19.99! What a bargain.

Wow. I find the products on this site (and not just the Wii accessories) very exciting.
...it would sure be nice to use my Super Advantage for World of Warcraft...if only the game supported that many buttons or button combinations. (Or does it?)

That's actually really cool. Too bad I don't have my NES or SNES anymore. ;(

Ho yes, that is awesome. Now if they'll make one for N64 controllers, I'll be a happy gamer.

Addition: this program I found out about elsewhere might make some people's dreams a reality...Google Joy2Key (or check it out here: http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyToKey%20English%20Version.htm).
Super Advantage on WoW FTW!

Gah. Want one...so bad...yet so little point.
::sigh::
I just...I really want to play with my classic controllers...but...40$? (I say 40 because, well obviously I need at least one of each)(screw the other guy, he can use the wavebird)(althought, there is something I like about the picture of two people playing contra with two classic controllers).
AH!! COSTING TOO MUCH MONEY!! System, controllers, games, VC games, more controllers, more games!
I'm so happy to be excited about games again!! :)

Did anybody take a good look at the image of the adapter for the NES controller? The above link is to a high-res image on their site which clearly shows a USB plug on the other end, NOT a GCN port.
What gives? Are they pushing a product they haven't even made yet?
Spekkio @ Nov 30th 2006 9:55PM
#5: Yeah, they're promoting a product that they intend to start shipping in Q107.

Where's my N64 controller? ;_;

#5: Looks like they're using placeholder images from their USB products, which serve the same purpose only for a PC, and most likely look the exact same save for the plug.
I've got a SNES USB adapter already(Super Smartjoy) and if these work as well as that, they'll be very much worth it(Emulating SF2 arcade with a Super Advantage gets VERY close to the real experience, same with NeoGeo games)
I won't be buying one because I already have a Hori Digital controller for GC though.
