Nintendo announces MP3 player for Europe
Hitting Europe on December 8th, the Nintendo MP3 player is designed to take MP3s from a 512mb SD card and, with the included adapter, play them on your DS Lite. Song navigation will be handled via the touch-screen, where all song information will be listed, as well. This MP3 player isn't limited to the DS (and/or DS Lite), also being fully compatible with the Game Boy Advance SP and Game Boy Micro. The MP3 player will set back Europeans around 30 € when it releases next month.

Nice. With Yoshi Island DS on Dec. 1, the Wii and this MP3 player on Dec. 8 my local EBGames is going to have a nice week with me as its customer ;-)

Here's some additional details, reference links at bottom. Whether these still remain true or not is unconfirmed as the posts they came from are a bit older:
Key features:
- For Nintendo DS (to be inserted into slot 2) and Game Boy Advance hardware
- To store music you need SD cards. Up to 2 GB cards are supported, this equals to 500 songs (best sound quality)
- Choose between different skins (including one with Mario)
- The interface shows all important information
- The unit itself features another headphone port

This was announced a while back, I think it was meant to be out October originally. Thank god it hasn't fallen off the face of the earth!

Isn't this the Play-Yan, which is pretty much ancient? Shouldn't be too hard to find hardware details on something that has been out for two years.

Would this work in a GBA too? More importantly (to me at least), will it be an ebook reader as well?
I'm using the GBA Movie Player now to listen to music and read ebooks (at the same time) during my commute but I'm thinking about getting the M3 now that the GBAmp site is gone and there's no more firmware updates. Was it owned by lik sang or something because it disappeared at the same time?
I hear the M3 takes MP3s too, not that converting them for the GBAmp was time consuming at all, but the software also compressed the files with conversion so you could fit more.
Will this thing play movies like the GBAmp or M3? If it's made by nintendo I'm sure they won't allow you do play roms on it but the video is pretty cool and much easy to convert than video for a psp.
