Rumor: don't fret over your preorder in the US
Word from the super-secret network of GameStop minions is that the retail chain got plenty of Wii units in to cover all preorders, so if you were worried, enjoy that big sigh of relief. We've heard, however (and so have others), that the same is not true of PS3; GameStop received so few units that employees are forced to pass on their own preorders until after all others are filled. The rumor is that GameStop received only 60% of their expected PS3 units -- an allocation that was already far under demand. Another strike for Sony in the delivery department. We'll invite you over to play, Sony fans! For all those Nintendo lovers who preordered at other retail outlets -- this is probably good news for you as well. It seems unlikely that they would fill full allocation at one place, but not at others. We've heard that our comrades in Europe may not be so lucky ....

I would hope that this is true... considering the fact our GS did 14 pre-orders and according to the leaked info, our Target's getting 33 (and the smaller Targer in the smaller town an hour away is getting 69)...

Yeah? I heard from my Best Buy they will have PLENTY of Wii's in stock. And that they're opening at 9am (as opposed to 11am like normal) on sunday.
Oh and, here's some leaked info from best Buy:
Wednesday my Best Buy is getting the games/accessories for the Wii, and will be ready to purchase that day.

I hope this is true for GameCrazy as well, I was 29th on the preorder list. Although it's not a big deal if I have to wait another week or so.

I can confirm this is true for our local Gamestop here in Indiana. I stopped by to check things out today and the manager told me that both EB and Gamestop (we have both in our mall) have plenty to cover the preorders.
Why is it such a rare event for a console manufacturer to actually make enough consoles to meet demand? Shouldn't we _expect_ this from a company? Well done Nintendo. Well done.

I was told last week by the retailer I had preordered with that I was definitely getting mine Sunday and allocations were fine overall.
As far as Best Buy opening early on Sunday, it's not just a Wii coincidence. Most retailers of every type have huge promo's planned to get out in front of the pre-Thanksgiving sales.
