Nintendo tells us to take a break (by jumping out of a window?)

Upon seeing the above image for the first time after 3 games in Wii Sports, a few thoughts flashed into our mind. First we thought Oh, that's nice! They care about our well being! which was soon replaced with Wait, why is the window open? Are we supposed to go out of the window? and, upon realizing we're several stories off the ground, we knew what Nintendo was trying to say. They wanted us to take a break, but more importantly, they wanted us to take our final break. They're trying to tell us to end it all. Whether they just despise our personality, or we are just so bad at the game that the only recourse is that we end our own life, is a mystery.
[Note: No, we're not being serious.]

This is actually pretty funny.

Mr. Hinkle, I love you. I thouroughly enjoyed this.
Bruce @ Nov 12th 2006 3:52PM
While you are taking a break, why not try some simple tests like connecting USB keyboards or hard drives to see if the system recognizes them or not? Can you tell us what sort of wireless protocols it supports? I run WPA2 on my LAN; can the Wii handle that, or does it require an open wireless access point or something? We're all sold on gameplay, test something less obvious!

I agree with Bruce... any word on usb keyboards/mice?
Anonymousaurus @ Nov 12th 2006 4:18PM
-i still wanna know how you hooked the Wii on a computer monitor & if it'll work on CRTs.
Vincent @ Nov 12th 2006 5:10PM
NOOOOO!!!! Speaking of windows...why did the person through butter out the wind------- okay I'll shut up....
Alvin @ Nov 12th 2006 5:14PM
wait, why do you have to press the + to pause the game???
dosen't that turn up the volume in the control???
Patrick @ Nov 12th 2006 5:27PM
I got a GREAT title for this...."An idea from Nintendo if you baught the PS3"
Mark D @ Nov 12th 2006 5:39PM
It does look rather ominous doesn't it, with the Wiimote just lying there.
It's all so Mary Celeste!
John Chamard @ Nov 12th 2006 5:52PM
I think the idea is to get some fresh air and get away from the sofa and the wii. Which is a refreshing idea. Exercise?
Shiv @ Nov 12th 2006 6:05PM
WPA support has already been confirmed.

Skip forward to about 7 minutes in and rejoice ;)
Also as regards to jumping out of the window - the Gamespot guys made the exact same joke in their "We've got a Wii" Marathon a few days ago. Is this co-incidence or just a case of borrowing?
metayoshi @ Nov 12th 2006 6:37PM
@ #8 Alvin:
I think because the Wiimote does not have a start button, or a select button, they made the + button into the pause button. Have you seen the Zelda: Twilight Princess title screen yet? It says "Press A + B" instead of "Press Start".
And, yea... I got a kick out of the article. I agree with #10 Mark D... The image is pretty bleak... The Wiimote is just lying there with the window open (and no living being in sight).
EliteGamer @ Nov 12th 2006 7:45PM
That is very disturbing how you took that. Its sorta like how toys r us tells you to turn off the tv and go play a wii.
Give me Stars or Give me Death! @ Nov 12th 2006 8:52PM
I think that Joystiq's interpretation is correct and should not be ignored. At least one of you should obey the almighty Wii and go for the window. I nominate Vlad.
Epsilon @ Nov 13th 2006 12:20AM
XD
Or maybe they're being literal.
Epsilon @ Nov 13th 2006 12:20AM
As in break a bone.
Bruce @ Nov 13th 2006 1:00AM
Thanks for the pointer, Shiv, that WPA info is very good to have.
I'd still love to know if keyboard input is possible or not. The on-screen method that has been shown even in that same video looks painful...
Shiv @ Nov 13th 2006 1:42AM
I am guessing that the new firmware update that is required (but not available yet) when connecting to the internet from the Wii might improve text input as well. Have a look at this about 8s in:

They probably mean go outside and get some fresh air, (or they want fanboys to kill themselves so they don't have to give customer support)
But I request you guys try to find out the answer to how SD Cards work on the Wii (the laddies over at Joystiq are having trouble, and i need to know)
Some say VC games won't save to SD Cards, some say you need that firmware update to use SD Cards, some say you just need to format them...
Can you guys clear this up?
qadir @ Nov 13th 2006 10:37PM
somebody saw the gamespot wii marathon video I s'pose. for shame mr.hinkle! either way an open window and a message of resting is quite suggestive on Ninty's behalf jk
