Whoa! What's up with the 360? Anyone care to fill me in on what happened? Why the sudden interest (relative only to last week -- not to the other systems, of course) ?

Tsk, tsk, tsk. You haven't even opened Tales of the Abyss yet, Jason? I advise you get on that immediately. Or not, it seems to have robbed me of several hours lately.

Microsoft released some sort of RPG, and then bundled it with the system.

There is no way the typos are getting fixed for the US release of Phoenix Wright 2. Unless... unless I offer to do it for free!

Blue Dragon isn't released until December 7, so it's not that. What WAS released this week, though?
NoBullet @ Nov 10th 2006 10:41PM
There are 2 360 games on the list.
PGR3 and Ninety Nine Knights (Xbox360 platinum collection). The last time there was a big boost was when Dead Rising was released there. And that was just around 2,000-3,000 X360's sold.

You're right, but I still think it's strange that a rather marginal price drop on two decidedly not system-selling games could create such a huge interest in the system...

Means that all of it made! It is not necessary to be manufactured!

I believe that MS released the Core system in Japan this week--perhaps that has attributed to higher sales for the Xbox. It'll most likely go back down next week.
With all due respect,

Does no one know about Gears of War?? That game would definitely be the reason of the large spike in sales.

"Does no one know about Gears of War?? That game would definitely be the reason of the large spike in sales."
Japanese hardware sales, sir. Gears of War was only released in North America. So that's not it.
20XX @ Nov 11th 2006 12:27PM
And also, Gears of War is not going to cause a large spike in 360 sales in Japan.

Isn't it without further "ado"? Adieu means goodbye in French.

It takes away time always!

I do believe that the preorders for the Blue Dragon/360 bundle were offered and rpomptly sold out. Also, the recent TGS showcased Blue Dragon and Lost Odessey, two games designed by the guy behind Chronotrigger. I imagine that this was a big source of the interest.
But as for Gears, I hope you all get a chance to play it on a HD display. First it met, and then exceeded, the most engaging and brilliant single player game I have ever played: Resident Evil 4. It's seriously that damned good guys. And this is coming from a /huge/ RE 4 fan. The gameplay is as smooth as butter, the graphics are amazaing, and there's a chainsaw on the end of your gun.
I'm not saying that this is going to cause a huge uproar in Japan for the 360. Not a chance. But I guarantee it'll sell a least a few copies based on graphics alone.
Back on topic, I bet the DS lite sees a spike with the release of FFIII stateside. Can't wait for that one.
