Wii or PS3? Internet decides ...

Our sister blog Joystiq recently took it upon themselves to don the cap and tobacco pipe of one Sherlock Holmes, traversing the vast series of tubes that make up the internet to answer the most important question in the universe. And before we go any further, no you don't need a crazy super computer to provide us with the answer, which is not "42." After giving up their search, they found that a Japanese blogger had already done all of the work for them. Hooray for us!Analyzing results from four of the largest social sites on the internet, the overall compilation of numbers results in the Wii kicking the PS3's ass up and down each tiny tube that together form a vast assembly of tubes that form an even vaster internet. Yes, we have a hard time letting a joke die (we're all for joke life support).

So, these sites, which are:
- Digg - Social bookmarking site which has every story ever.
- Technorati - Blog post search engine and cataloguing site.
- Flickr - Site allowing users to store digital photographs, share, sort and host.
- You Tube - A video hosting service no longer having any Colbert Report content.
- Diggs: Wii's 41,446 vs. PS3's 36,478
- Technorati: PS3's 334,285 blog entries vs. Wii's 230,803
- Flickr: Wii's 4,865 photos vs. PS3's 3,583
- YouTube: Wii's 8,382 videos vs. PS3's 6787

Hm? According to this, the Technorati results alone give the PS3 a huge lead over the Wii.

Although I have my Wii preordered and am freezing waiting for it, (prolonged joke support), I don't think this really means anything other than Ninty fans being a stronger internet presence than PS3 fellows.
When I talk to my casual gamer friends, they all ask me when the PS3 is coming out and then I say "I'm getting a Wii first" and they look at me with utter confusion. Nintendo wants the casual gamer, but they'll have to steal them from Sony/MS by word of mouth.

I looked at that NexGenWar site, 45% Wii, 20% PS3, 35% 360
If the Sales are actually this close, this will be the best gen since the 16-bit days

I understand what you are trying to say. I don't think you said it very well, especially since it sounds like a yelling rant...but I get it. And for the most part, you are right. Even though your right, the GameCube's superiority didn't help it sell. I bought one for sure! But PS2's sold like hotcakes...and it was not hot. Granted, I bought a PS2 too.
Nintendo is changing things up. If PS2 could make it without such a technological leap, than why make the leap? Grab attention from the videogame universe by creating something new and different. The Wii doesn't even claim to be graphically better. It knows it doesn't need to be. Xbox 360 and PS3 can fight that battle now...but they may lose to the more affordable fun. PS3 and 360 are more of the same, bigger and better and more bells and whistles....but as the DS once said to the PSP..."yeah right."
Can anyone see the relationship between the DS and Wii, and the PSP and PS3. Expensive graphics VS fun and new gameplay.
NINTY is keeping it fresh and new.
Graphics are cool too...and to the hardcore, sure I want me some of that. That is why I have my CHEAPER 360 vs the expensive PS3. I don't have to pay for all those extra BELLS from Sony. At the end of the day, how could I not want to play the Wii. And I have played the Wii at the Nintendo Fusion Tour....and again, how could I not want to play the Wii...it is so fun. Graphics what?

post 11 im just fed up of living in a relm of lyers, xbox was not more powerful wind waker had class leading graphics not baby graphics cubes loading speeds were near cartridge perfect.... cube had great build qoality and the gratest standard pad ever yet wii have to watch the magority talk crap....
ps2 fans are the biggest zealots in gaming history
they defend dualshock they defend long loadtimes, they defend buggy games they defend lack of basics like AA or texture compression, they say dualshock is great when it hurts your hands and has dead anolog sticks, they call dualshock a great pad WOT// it gets on my tits there all imbaseals but when a nintendo fanboy mentions a fact a realizum within gaming his labeled FANBOY
iv never understood how being truthfull about gamings history and knowing your sweet anolog from a bad one makes someone a fanboy
i would have thought it makes them SMART

Hey a check on Facebook shows 256 groups for Wii (mainly positive) and 133 for the PS3 (mixed postive and negative)

hey i love the internet banter. im just getting into this whole bloggin and wiki thing but heres my 2 cents on wii. i couldn't agree more that the wii wiil kiick butt. its revolutionary hence the production code name. i love nintendo. mario and luigi all the way biotch. any way look at the facts, wii iis rockin the house with projection polls, no matter what you ps3 biznaches say. when i aim to buy a new game console i plan for it to be exciting and new none of this joyskick and button mash nonsense. thats old skewl, and outdated. finally a chance for us gamers with fast hands and not fast fingers to dominate.
