Wii interface video shows the goods

IGN's resident Wii guy Matt C sat down and recorded himself running through the Wii's interface recently. Then one of IGN's subscribers did us all a favor and uploaded the video to You Tube so that we may see and let all those as enthusiastic about the Wii as we are know of its existence. So now that we have, stop reading and head further into the ~~rabbit hole~~ post and check the video out!

So what in the world was the point of putting this video up on YouTube in the first place?

I fear that news on the Wii are running somewhat dry when one of the top Wii news items of the day is "Someone wasted lots of time on YouTube today."

In the video he mentioned "good luck finding component cables." I remember reading here or somewhere about component cables being online only at Best Buy, EB Games, etc. Any news on this? I wish I could go ahead and order them and have them for launch. I really would hate to have my first Wii experience tarnished by inferior gfx...well as inferior as 480i to 480p can be. And while I've diverted the topic, any thoughts on S-video vs. component vs. composite (in regards to the Wii)

Using component cables with my Gamecube, just on my regular 20" SDTV, gives a MUCH clearer picture than the composite cables do. Same thing with Xbox, really. The component cables are just able to transmit a much clearer picture than composite, and if your TV has input for it, I highly recommend them.

I cannot find a simple EDTV anymore, especially not an economical one that can be applied for college, all i can find at retail is "HYPER MEGA HDTV, see in 1080p!" $2999.99

Where can i find a TV that just has component input without having to buy one that ALSO has HDMI...?

Uhhmmm... Well I prefer having a YouTube video with higher rez than the IGN low rez 200+MB file.

That's the reason for putting it up there.

I know this is kind of a small thing to notice, but at 7:25 on the video above, that's the first look I've seen anywhere of the wi-fi security standards that the Wii supports. Much better than the wimpy WEP only that the DS has. Plus, while it had been previously revealed somewhere that the Wii will work with 802.11b/g, with that WPA2 showing there, then it sounds like the Wii will also work with 802.11i . Kind of a small thing to most people, I'm sure, but that was a concern of mine.
I was gonna just go with the USB/ethernet adapter to connect the system to my network and the internet, but this little bit of extra security might just convince me to go wi-fi after all.
