A Wii launch guide

IGN is working on a Wii launch guide, with different mini-guides within the overall guide set to release in intervals up until the console's launch next month. Right now, the guide provides information on all the system's hardware, such as its peripherals in the Wiimote, nunchuk and classic controller. The hardware section also breaks down the hardware available out of the box.
The next installment set for the guide is a breakdown on the games, which will be available to view come Halloween (October 31st for those unaware of the "holiday"), followed by a guide to its online aspects on November 7th and, what we assume, is a how-to on hooking it up come November the 17th. So if you're interested, we suggest you keep an eye one Wii Fanboy for future updates.

Sherlock @ Oct 25th 2006 1:18PM
Yeah and they are being sold online only I've read. No joke.

Not only that, but it's not compatible with the component cables from the Cube. Kinda sucks, but I'm gonna end up buying them anyway.

As someone wise stated about the Component Cables on the thread about them
The GameCube Component Cables were VIDEO ONLY, they were used in conjunction with the composite cables to deliver audio and video
The Wii Component Cables are integrated, Video and Sound

what makes me giggle is ign listed the specs THAT THEY DONT EVEN KNOW. and descibed the 24mb ram as main ram and 64mb ram as OTHER RAM. clearly showing they DONT REALLY KNOW THE SPECS AT ALL. i think ign and other sites do this to try and get nintendo to break there silance by delibratly reporting on unconfirmed specs, HOW CAN WII HAVE TWO BANKS OF 1TSRAM YET NO ACCESS RAM theres no way nintendo would use expencive ram to feed the sound processor or use as access so take lournch specs with a table spoon of salt.....AND IGN PLEASE DONT REPORT FAKE SPECS WAIT FOR CURRECT INFORMATION THEN REPORT ON IT...iv just asked jurnalists to be honest i should know better

Anyone know if the classic controller can plug directly into the Wii instead of the remote? (Just cant bring myself to call it the Wii-mote) B/C if not, you basically have a $60 classic remote instead of the $20 advertised. And why the hell is the nunchuck packaged separate from the remote? For any game you use it in, you also need the remote.

Hi I have the Ninendo Ds Lite and I'm getting the Nintendo wii. Do they work with each other in some way?
daveT @ Nov 9th 2006 12:00PM
Yes, of course the DSLite will be compatable w/ the Wii. You should be able to download game demos and other stuff from your wii. the Wii will work lke a download station similar to the ones in the stores.
