An elusive Wii endcap spotted in the wild
One of our excellent readers wrote us to tell of his latest trip to Target. While we love to hear from each and every one of you, while traversing the aisles in your local grocery store deciding which jelly spread you're going to get this week (we assume you eat a lot of jelly) or how you were beaten to that excellent parking spot at work this morning, but what makes this story so important is that this fine reader sent us in snapshots of a Wii endcap and its contents.Included in the post, after the break, are large shots of the Wii endcap found in the wild, along with a close-up shot of the Wii dogtags and pin set available for purchase.
[Thanks macphisto!]

Wow, those are actually some awesome dog tags. I must have them...
What do they go for?

Ah, so this wasn't just a stupid rumor my friend told me about.
The day he told me, this past Sunday, I swung by the Targets in Neshamminy, PA, and Springfield, PA, with no luck in finding such endcaps. So I was in a bit of disbelief til now.

There's a Target nearby that has the endcap display. The dogtags, 3-pack of controller "gloves", small and large storage trays and Wii "sling" bags were all $24.99. As a bonus, they also had the magical glowing gift cards on the rack. I put $1 on it and have something to tide me over until I get my full system.

Notice the empty space on the upper right? Those are to my knowledge all left empty, with the SKU being for a DVD accessory.
Didn't Nintendo officially cancel this add-on?

Just to the left of the endcap, behing the locked sliding glass doors is where you'll find your Wii when it's released. One of the new Target stores in our area has both the Wii and PS3 end caps and display areas ready to go. They also have an unmarked, currently non-working 15" LCD directly by both.

These endcaps are at the Target's down here in Florida also. The TV runs Wii videos we've seen before (the jumping 'i's and whatnot aswell as some footage from a few Wii titles. Nothing but controller protectors and dogtags here too.

Where at in FL? The Target on the north side of Tampa has nothing except the big cardboard things behind the glass. I asked about the gift cards, and the electronics area employee said they won't start selling those for another week or so. Seems like this store is the last to know anything.

Whoa, Cozmo, did you say they want $25 for dog-tags? That's just plain f'ing ridiculous!
Darn, I figured they were like 10 bucks. I was so about to drive to Target...
Justin @ Oct 24th 2006 4:07PM
i want the dogtags
Now I'll have to go check out our target!

Target in Upland CA baby. Had this endcap up for two weeks now. Actually, the top left endcap has a tag on it marked "Wii Activision DVD". Don't know what that means though.

if you haven't guessed, the dogtags are to represent wii soldiers in the war against SONY. duh!
if you're boycotting sony, buy some effing dog tags.
it's the least you could do.
