Need for Speed: Carbon controls revealed

Newsweek has got a bit of an exclusive look at the upcoming Need for Speed: Carbon for the Wii. Why them? Bah! But some interesting details were divulged nevertheless.
As expected, the default control configuration for NFS: Carbon is the one of simplicity, found also in Excitetruck and a mini-game in Wario Ware: Smooth Moves. Turn the Wiimote on its side, and viola, instant steering wheel. But for you pros out there, there are three alternatives for your particular racing style. The first involves holding the Wiimote at a 45 degree angle, tilting forward to accelerate and back to brake; the nunchuk is tilted left and right for steering. The second and third have the Wiimote held at a 90 degree angle; acceleration is handled by tilting forward as before, but now braking is mapped to the Z button on the nunchuk. One of these two uses the motion sensing in the nunchuk for steering, the other merely uses the analog stick.
Anyone else think these options are cool as hell, (partially) mimicking a stick shift configuration?

Non-gamers had no trouble picking it up. The longest it takes to get the hang of it is 30 minutes. But experienced gamers didn't like it as much. So we have alternatives.

Those other control methods sound .. not super great..though I suppose they might be beter if you could demo them out

This is going to be the first third-party gamer that I'll play on my Wii. I absolutely LOVE NFS. And more people are thinking aboute getting this game now because the visuals improved greatly.
Aex, if your reading this, I TOLD YOU THE GRAPHICS WOULD GET BETTER!

@Marc: The biggest problem I see so far is texture memory is awful, just like on previous Nintendo consoles. Playable, but it still looks awful.

Frankly, I don't see why people are excited about racing games with the Wii controller. Most of these games have physics so lame you could play them just as well with a digital gamepad. Excite Truck, with vechicles traveling at 600+ scale MPH that just bounce off objects, is *definately* that kind of game.
BTW, I have NFS: Underground 2 on my PC. It's decent, but definately a game for keyboards, joysticks, or my XBox gamepad. It's painful to drive with my steering wheel.

Well that's easy. People are excited about these games because you can't do this stuff in real life. I can't drive around for hours on end running from cops, but I can do that easily in NFS Most Wanted.
Hence the point of a video game.
Video games are supposed to be a way to get away from reality. And people have forgotten that.
And about the textures, does it really matter? Your playing a game called "Need For Speed" for God's sake! Your always gonna be in motion, so you wouldn't be able to tell ground textures from the Wii version from ground textures from the Xbox 360 version.

So, if I put set it on automatic I could just tie the Wii-Remote to my shoe and hit the gas?
Meatloaf, when you use the word "aweful" you make it sound like they kicked the game back into the days of the first Playstation. I find the game quite pretty.
I guess I have yet to be spoiled by High Def TV.
