More ridiculous Gamecube Zelda news

Right on the heels that Nintendo of Japan will sell the Gamecube version of Twilight Princess exclusively through their online store, Nintendo of Australia sends yet another blow to our poor, left-handed Link: The GC Zelda will be only be distributed though that prodigal retailer, EB Games. While this in itself isn't quite as bad as an solely online offering, further rumors persist that there will be one shipment and one shipment only, delivered in January (the Australian release date of the GC version).Nintendo appears to be doing everything in their power to discourage the purchase of discs smaller than a standard DVD. They're not technically breaking their promise, but ... dammit. Any Aussies care to speak their mind?

That's extremely lame. I'm American, but I suspect there are those down under who share my opinion of wanting to play the game as it was initially designed to be played, since that option is available. I will play the Wii version but not until I beat it on my Gamecube.

I could personally care less if it's never released for 'Cube in America, as I already have a pre-order on the Wii version anyway. And as for playing it the way it was originally designed, my guess is Nintendo planned to do this for a LONG time. I'm not concerned with something as trivial as if I'm playing with a 'Cube controler or a Wiimote. I'm getting a Wii, so damn it, Zelda's coming with me. I already have Wind Waker if I want a Zelda 'Cube fix, so it's all good for me.
Think about it after all. The Twilight Princess engine is a heavily modified version of the Wind Waker engine, which means that it really won't feel all to different, just look different with a different story. That's all well and good, but I welcome this control change alot, since I've pretty much been playing Zelda the same way since OoT.

I'm not that fussed. I plan on getting a Wii and trading in my cube to do so. I might as well get used to remote games ASAP... and have a blast playing Zelda while doing so!

As an Aussie I can't say it bothers me that much, I don't know all that many people with cube's besides myself and pretty much everyone wants to get a Wii anyway so it's not really that big a deal.

Yeah i agree with Mutant.Sheepdog.
Im an aussie, and out of the people i know, i only know 10 (at the most) with a gc. And for alot of people, the wii will be the first nintendo console theyve bought.
It stresses me to see gcs shelf space at EB decreasing.

I find that offensive. Us aussies have gotten the short end of the stick from all of the game companys for long enough and it's about time we did something about it. While it might not be illegal this move sure is sneaky, and does nothing to help Nintendo of Australia's already tarnished reputation.

I don't know about the rest of the world but the cube died over here in Oz a long time ago amongst the general public.
As others have mentioned, Cube shelf space at EB Games has been getting smaller and smaller to the point where you have to ask an assistant where any of the Cube games are.
I think this Christmas, provided Nintendo do their job at marketing the product, the Wii will be launched in a [Nintendo] space that has been waiting to be filled in a long time.
Nintendo need to realise that internet marketing won't be as successful over here they need TV ads to sell the Wii in Australia because not everyone has an Internet connection over here, at least not the market audience they intend to target. I mean come on, they want to target those who aren't techhnically literate right? How many of those do you think have access to the internet?

it's a non-issue, i'm going to buy the game eventually where-ever it's for sale and we are long since used to getting the ole' PAL-Shaft by everyone

As an aussie it has been a sad sight to see the GCN diminish to almost nothing over here for the last year and a half ....
BUT when it comes to this news I think the Aussies should be happy that nintendo has bothered to ship the GCN zelda at all. From a company's perspective nintendo should focus way more on their new beast the Wii than try to sell GCN games, I've already pre ordered my Wii and ZTP Wii (since about 5-6 weeks ago ---- CAN'T WAIT!!!)
Aussie's this is our nintendo generation
(how else do you explain getting Wii 5 days after the Motherland?)
