Nintendo hits Malaysia (officially)

Nintendo has recently been mounting their new global offensive, and last week it landed in Malaysia in the form of an official counter in the Mid Valley Megamall in capital Kuala Lumpur. Sometimes these forays of Nintendo's are not so successful, but it seems that they has been welcomed in Malaysia despite the rampant piracy in the surrounding region.

Fans are paying a premium for their official titles, but in return they get warranties and replacement policies, and a quality guarantee is nothing to turn down. And the area is beautiful designed, with lots of bright surfaces and display units. Check out a couple of photos after the jump.

In related news ... would anyone else be willing to commit minor crimes for the above t-shirt, or is it just us?

It's hard to sell where people don't expect warranty but if they can pull it off, it would be wonderful. Guess they really aiming for the family crowd...

I figure selling the Gameboy Micro would be best in that market... just get some hot looking chicks to walk around in clubs playing games and such and it'll sell!

Looks like an awesome store. Hopefully Nintendo can get the Malaysians in an innovative mood!

This is certainly good news for the region. Kuala Lumpur has one of the... umm, I'm not sure whether to say "best" or "worst", so we'll go with "biggest", biggest counterfeit/knockoff markets in the world right in its downtown, so this gives local consumers the option to buy from somewhere where they know that what they are getting is legit and official.

Also, interesting that Nintendo chose this mall, and not the very up-market KLCC (attached to the Petronas Towers... remember Entrapment?) for its shop.
