Pokemond Diamond and Pearl break sales records?

We knew the launch was crazy, but this is ridiculous: some (unconfirmed) sources over at 4 color rebellion are stating that the entire launch allocation of two million copies of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl have completed sold out ... in less than a day. Furthermore, half a million DS Lites (including the new special edition, shown here) flew off the shelves as well. Next week's sales numbers should be ... interesting, to say the least.
We're not sure, but this might be an all-time sales record in Japan, and if one takes into account the proportional population of Japan versus the U.S., Pokemon Diamond and Pearl exceeds even Halo 2's ridiculous first day numbers (2.4 million sold in 24 hours). Take that, Master Chief.

despite me being a PSP fanboy, despite all the love i have for sony...
I have tell you one thing:
give me a Nintendo DS with a pokemon game on it ... and I would sell not only my psp but also my future xbox 360...

i hate nintendo having pokemon ONLY for their consoles...
how much could i get for my PSP on ebay??

about 500,000 japanese people agreed with you: D/P is worth buying a DS for.
US projected release date is somewhere around February or March, most likely March. But, this is just the buzz around Pokemon Communities, so if i'm wrong, please don't come to my house and stab me.

and i cant wait for this one pokemon with wifi has always been an idea i've wanted implemented, now all they need to do is make a new version of the pokemon tcg game for ds.

Unconfirmed? Not by a long shot. We've got Japanese sites, including Famitsu and PokéAni (largest Japanese Pokémon fansite) saying the same thing. These games sold like hotcakes.
Still trying to find confirmation on if that 2 million figure includes just the ones sold through Japanese stores, or the ones that were purchased and sold by online retailers such as Play-Asia as well. (My copy's currently stuck in customs in Sydney. ;_;)
