TGS 2006: Elebits wins best in show
When we conducted our internal poll and found only one of our staff (see: me) was absolutely dying to get their hands on Elebits at launch, a division was created. On one side exists the rational, incredibly handsome individual who is willing to partake in the unique, refreshing experience Elebits is sure to provide, while the other, more sinister, puppy-kicking side will supposedly "enjoy" the Wii's launch without the game. Internal conflict aside, more people are sure to notice the quirky title now, given its recent award for Best in Show at the now-concluded Tokyo Game Show. Forget the exciting trucks and secret rings, those little Elebits are the biggest show on the Wii. And we, definitely, will be purchasing a ticket for admission.

Elebits sounds like a very promising title to me and I will surely get that one.

Wow. Best in Show, really? I mean I'm excited for this game, but... sort of surprises me that it beat out eveything else... am i missing something here?

Hah, I knew this game was going to be awesome. It has that Katamari simplicity and addictiveness written all over it. That is why I was suprised to read former Joystiqer Robert Sumnma's impressions from the NYC Wii event, written over at Destructoid.

My favorite lines:
"Elebits, from Konami, is more or less a first-person shooter kids’ game"
"Unless you love little kiddie games that lack an overall sense of quality, I’d stay away from this title. This may be the worst game here."
"Grade: D"
Now I was never one to criticize Summa for that whole 12:01 debacle, but I'm glad he's not writing here anymore anyway. Marginalizing the best game of TGS as a 'kiddie game to stay away from' just screams douchbag wannabe "hardcore" gamer. Maybe he was justified and the TGS build is vastly improved over the NYC event, but his 'eww it's a kiddie game attitide' leads me to believe he's an idiot...

jp007,
Please know that we would never provide such a biased opinion on a game, especially one that has not been finalized. Even though the blog's title is Nintendo Wii Fanboy, it does not mean we aren't rational adults. We'll forever strive to bring you objective, thought-provoking stories and do our best to cover the news you care about.
Thanks for all the support and keep reading!
Dave

Please be aware that Elebits was one of 11 games to win "best-of show" at TGS.

The game looks sweet.
I think it will be something my girlfriend and I both enjoy - which is rare. The last game we both enjoyed was Chibi Robo - this looks just as quirky and fun as that was.
