Far Cry: Vengeance revealed

The guys at VGM Daily managed to get some info on the unnamed Far Cry project that has been said to release on the Wii from Andre Vu of Ubisoft. Dubbed Far Cry: Vengeance, the game is not to be a straight port of the Xbox versions. The game is also to support progressive scan (480p) and widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) in the final retail version.
Some interesting ways of working the Wiimote's gesture-based functions were also revealed. Thrusting the Wiimote forward will allow you to zoom in, where slashing the Wiimote will allow you to use your knife and/or feral attack. The nunchuk's capabilities will also be used. Pulling up on it will cause Jack Carver to jump.
It turns out that Ubi is also testing online for the game. The game is to be officially unveiled on the 14th of this month.

The only issue I have with the controller mechanics is "moving Wiimote forward to zoom among other innovations." that I think should be configured for a button. I can see that occurring by accident and hampering game play. Make the zoom a button press option. What do you guys think?

I think simple gameplay mechanics are probably built with the notion that people will be moving and reacting to gameplay, thus building in a level of sensitivity behind gestures. They thoughly test the builds to make sure this doesnt hamper gameplay, it's their jobs. :) They wouldn't add in a move if it jumped every 3 seconds because you were dodging bullets and rambo rolling around the room like the metroid video.
:P

I think a map editor on the Wii would be pretty awesome too, hopefully better than the xbox version.

I am truly psyched about this game. I love Farcry and a new Farcry experience on the Wii is a dream come true, but this is only true if there is online play and a map editor. The thought of making maps on the Wii for Farcry sounds very promising and could turn out 10 fold better than the map editing features of the xbox version. Using the wiimote to control feral ability and the knife is a very pleasing proposition, not only that but it seems as though melee will now be far more effective in online battle.
Eh I’m so pumped about this title and news of it that I can’t think straight. Can’t wait for this game but I’ll settle for some info on the 14th.
