Over at AMN, Nintendo has confirmed that there will in fact be no Space World event held this year. The person confirming this, Nintendo of America Public Relations Manager Matt Atwood, dashed away speculation that this event would help usher in the launch of the Wii. However, there is good news!
I managed to save money on my car insurance! Matt Atwood, the clever PR-type person that he is, said that while Nintendo has yet to officially announce its Wii lineup, in regards to
Super Mario Galaxy making the cut for launch, "anything is possible."

Not too sure about the Mario at launch. If this yr I am sure around late Nov or Dec... to compete with the others offering.

I hope they keep ahold of Mario for later on. They are already going to have a stellar launch with LoZ, Metroid, and some really promising 3rd party games. Save SMG for Spring 07 and release SSBB Holidays 2007.

I'm just worried they may rush it to make it a lauch title instead of taking their time

Yyyeah.... this seems vague at best. At E3 they though Galaxy would be available "within 6 months of launch", so I would be surprised to see it showing up THAT early. Would be great, mind you, but just strikes me as unlikely.
As it is I'll be fairly busy with Zelda, Metroid, Red Steel, etc., so no immediate worries :)

The weak launch line up was a big disappointment on the GameCube. They need to get back to the days when a Nintendo launch title could make you completely oblivious to whether there was any other games for the machine.
I can remember when the SNES launched with Super Mario World included and actually didn't seem like a bad deal deal if all it ever became was a $200 machine to play that one game. Super Mario 64 wasn't bundled with the N64 but it might as well have been, along with a $250 price. Again, that made for some very high immediate satisfaction with the machine.
It's been a long time since I was able to get that kind of enjoyment from a launch day purchase. The closest was Halo but it wasn't as universal in its appeal as a Super Mario World or Mario 64.

I very much doubt Super Mario Galaxy will be a launch title, unless one of the other AAA titles is pushed back a bit.
With Zelda: Twilight Princess and Metroid Prime 3 already for launch, releasing its "Big 3" all on the same day wouldn't be wise, I don't think. All eggs, one basket, etc......

From the comments section of the original article on AMN from "Ray-AMN":
"Was there to report on it. Video of the interview coming soon!"
Maybe we'll be able to see if he said "Anything is possible" with a wink and a nudge...

I think only releasing one or two of the big three would m be a bit more of putting all your eggs in one basket. A lot of the Wii's success is dependant on the launch.
But then again - the launch is pretty much already secured as a sell out, so you may be right - save mario for a later date to push more consoles.

"Anything is possible" = PR Talk for "covering own behind." If SMG (not to be confused with MSG or MGS) is a Wii launch title, then we can "thank" him for letting us know ahead of time. If SMG isn't a launch game, then we can't blame him since he didn't confirm it.
Cabbage @ Aug 5th 2006 7:50AM
After watching the video interview (man that was a crazy big file) it looks like his "anything is possible" is more like a "we can neither confirm nor deny" kind of statement. He was very careful not to state anything that had not previously been stated by other Nintendo officials.
Really the only thing that happened in the interview was that he confirmed the non-existence of Space World and said that Nintendo would "do other things" to make their announcements. That implies to me that not all announcements will be coming at some big trade show, but I could be wrong.

HAHAHAHahaha!!! Yeah right, Good One! Like Nintendo will rather rush a title than delay it.

Mario! old in new!?!?!?!

I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, but I'll share a bit of info with you: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and The Wind Waker were all rushed a bit. There was more they wanted to do with each game, but were unable to, due to time constraints.
Which is why they have been delaying Twilight Princess. And I'm glad that they are.

I'm gunna share a bit of info with you, they wernt rushed, they all were delayd, infact its safe to assume any future zelda game will have a delay.
when things get cut out of games, its not always because its rushed, most of the time its because the material just didnt work in the overall game. Its like in movies, a scene may be good, but if it doesnt flow well with the film it gets the cut

Let's wait till next press release or interview. Maybe some information will be uncovered
Ty @ Aug 7th 2006 10:46AM
SMG should probably not be on the launch titles because it would be smart for nintendo to take their time and do the best job they can on SMG
Damanx @ Dec 31st 2007 4:26PM
I really hope it's a launch title!
