Luigi's Mansion sequel coming to Wii?
A forum poster over at Neo GAF has dropped some tidbits from the EGM Rumor Mill to the inter wubs stating that a sequel to the GameCube launch title Luigi's Mansion is in the works for the Wii. Now, should this be true, we're sure that the game will feature even more sucking than the first installment, with a back pack so big that it can be seen from space, which coincidentally is where we predict Luigi's next adventure to be. In fact, Luigi wanted to go to space first, but you know that show-off brother of his just had to beat him to the punch. It's tough living in the portly plumber's shadow (seriously, Mario could stand to lose a few pounds and Luigi's lactose intolerance means he needs sunlight so he can produce precious vitamin D). All fat jokes aside, this is a no-brainer. With the Wiimote, Luigi's Mansion 2: Electric Boogaloo (working title) can be free to traverse into the first-person realm. That's right, you read it here first: the next game to bear the Luigi's Mansion name will be in the first-person view and will have the thin, mustached man capturing space ghosts...and possibly fighting Jason.
Luigi Vs. Jason: Electric Boogaloo anyone?

I'd buy it, even with a horrible name like that. I would appreciate a DS version over a Wii version, but I am willing to buy this. Ugh... FFTA2 or Mario Kart Wii or this... I don't know what to do. If this is real, I'm thanking you guys for telling me about this, as I loved the first game, and to me, Luigi was a hero, sure, a little scared here and there, but not at all a "scardey cat".
@ Marc:To me Luigi wasn't quite as horror stricken as I was (hey, I was reallyf young when I played it, some of it freaked me out more than Luigi did. I know there are some people that STILL get freaked out by the game). I found it to be the most fun game I had at the time, and still do. it was the reason why I bought a Gamecube, and it was a trillion times better than Sunshine, which could've been so much better. To me, the fact that Luigi got his own game made me like Luigi even MORE, and the game wasn't a let down (like Sunshine).
@ Hovo: I honestly don't like that idea that much, because it means multi-player action, which I think wouldn't be very good. I hope Nintendo proves me wrong. I don’t like the idea of Mario being a playable game in a game that is really supposed to be Luigi’s. The one thing I’m afraid Nintendo might do is put some minigames in it, because that generally means that a game has a VERY short storyline or gameplay. Minigames are generally exploited to make a game seem longer, but generally they stink (when they do it to platform games).
Anyway, let’s all hope that this doesn’t turn into a letdown!

I think the firs game was incredibly borin... I almost fell asleep while playn' it... If it wasent for all those stuped annoying ghosts that pop up every five seconds... :0

Seriously i would love to see luigi's mansion come to the Wii. U could use the nunchuck for the movement and u could either switch to first person or third person and i do have a good idea for the story. So Bowser gets possed by king boo (again) and turns luigi evil and mario has to do whatever luigi does in the old sequal and make the story longer and the ghosts tougher and have a bigger mansion it would be called Luig's Mansion 2:Mario's doom
Shadow mario 508355 @ Sep 27th 2008 7:01PM
Yaya I hope the game cames out....bbbbuuuutttt why space? But Luigi caught king Boo...... and if mario gets caught again wouldn't he know that they're tricking him?
tyler @ Oct 9th 2008 5:15PM
if it is tru when would it come out?
danelektro @ Oct 18th 2008 11:27PM
marc i mean come on who wouldn't be scared in this huge haunted mansion filled with a bunch of ghosts, sure some people might not be as scared as others but they'd be scared none the less and even then after that game luigi became my favorite charcter even more....
Devin @ Oct 25th 2008 12:45PM
I use to have gamecube and luigi's manson but got rid of it all by my dad but now i have a wii and i LOVED luigi's manson so i REALLY WANT TO HAVE IT FOR THE WII!!!
NewBro @ Nov 29th 2008 2:44PM
YES YES YES,
Luigi's Mansion was fun, somewhat creepy!
Look, this is just my opinoin, I like Luigi a tad bit better the Mario, but hey, I'm just human.
Luigi needs more games of himself. Mansion was a great game, I wish I still had it.
The graphics were great, very good models of Luigi and others.
The gameplay was fun and you could remember it easily.
Wii was a new generation for gaming, they need THIS GAME FOR Wii!!!
And Nintendo, if you choose not to make the sequel, at least make the first one for Wii.
P.S.
The need to make a DS game about Luigi too!
Like the "New Super Mario Bros.", but like "Luigi's Adventure" or something and Princess DAisy get's kidnapped!
MSWells @ Feb 16th 2009 10:27PM
Technically, Marc and Gauntlet, if you go by the story line of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, Mario and Luigi are twins! XP
unreal mccoy @ Aug 4th 2006 11:39AM
I REALLY hope this game gets made. Even though the original was not a replacement for a Mario launch title, it was a fun game.
But that title, Electric Boogaloo, might need some reworking...
Edge of Blade @ Aug 4th 2006 11:56AM
No. No No.
Nothing depressed the Gamecube launch for me as much as this game. I can't logically explain why. But the game felt claustrophobic and tiny. Small inside. Small outside. It felt like a tediously costructed requisite system instead of an mansion exploring masterpiece some seem to laud it as. It has a notoriously narrow scope for me, and I got sick of all those damn ghosts that popped out of the ceiling in the halls. Please, my opinion is that this game should be nothing more than a ghost on the virtual console...and NOT sequeled.
Spaz @ Aug 4th 2006 12:37PM
Aw, Edge of Blade, I gotta disagree! I actually popped this game into my 'Cube again recently (I blame the summer doldrums) and actually forgot how fun it was. Sure, it had all the failings of a launch title, but it was funny, it was fun, it was goofy, and it was a blast. I would welcome a new (possibly better) sequel to the franchise. Maybe we can lasso ghosts this time around? :)
Josh @ Aug 4th 2006 12:43PM
I got a GameCube the launch Christmas, but I never got Luigi's Mansion, and I have only played it for a total of about three minutes in Wal-Mart or somewhere over numerous play sessions.
Should I get it?
Jonathan Harford @ Aug 4th 2006 1:24PM
Dear nintendowiifanboy Editors,
Referring to a sequel as “Electric Boogaloo” has jumped the shark, along with the phrases “I just threw up a little in my mouth”, “jumped the shark”, and “I'm so excited I Wiid a little”. Just thought you'd want to know.
Matt T. @ Aug 4th 2006 1:31PM
I personally liked the 1st,It was just plan old funeven though it was a tad easy and short.I mean seriously this game would work wellwith Wii,PLEASE don't make it in 1st person
truplaya @ Aug 4th 2006 3:41PM
I knew there would be a sequel; the Wiimote's the perfect controller for this kinda game.
Marc @ Aug 4th 2006 3:48PM
I'm not sure what the first one had that would scream sequel, but I'd still like to see this game made (without FPS style. Third person is better).
Also let me get this off my chest. This is the game that made Luigi a "scaredy-cat". In Mario games before LM, Luigi was respected as Mario's equal. Now he's always gonna be seen as the scared older brother. Luigi's Mansion made it hard to be a Luigi fan (seeing as how Nintendo had to make the poor guy horror-stricken through the whole game).
Incorrigible @ Aug 4th 2006 8:29PM
Heh, Jonathan. Except "jumped the shark" is a term only used for television shows. :P
Ian Murray @ Aug 4th 2006 8:43PM
I know this has absolutely no bearing on this post...but I'd love to see an Eternal Darkness sequel come out for the Wii.
0100101010010 @ Aug 4th 2006 8:53PM
I hope this game is a survivor horror game but with a comedic twist.
Tom @ Aug 5th 2006 3:45AM
It should be called
Luigi's Mansion II: The Legend of Curly's Gold
Gauntlet @ Aug 5th 2006 10:47AM
Marc: Luigi is the younger brother. ;)
Liam @ Aug 6th 2006 2:56AM
Yes Even though hes taller
David Hinkle @ Aug 8th 2006 1:07PM
Tom gets 1 star for his hilarious sequel name.
Pededia @ Aug 5th 2009 4:12PM
Luigi's Mansion was a fantastic game. A sequel would be a great addition to the story line. But the name...Electric Boogaloo? That's not exactly a fitting name for the talk about it...but if that's the name they place on it, that deosn't make the game any worse. There could be all kinds of additions to patch up some of the 'gaps' left from the first one. Waluigi could possibley release the boos, leaving not only ghostly bosses, but a human one as well. I agree with those who say Mario should have no part in this, him having all those game titles to himself already. Two player should be an option, and possibley even an online interaction where you can have a team of up to four and take on an adventure different from the main storyline. Or even maybe a versus online game. But all new ghosts(the portrait ghosts of course). Maybe more of a sanctuary to train or possibley decorate with items you find in the mansion, which could be shown off in online interaction. These are just ideas.
