FF III secures almost 450K copies to retailers in Japan
According to a Dutch gaming site, pre-orders for Final Fantasy III have already hit between 400,000 and 450,000 in Japan. This is just amazing. The report makes no mention of how many of these pre-orders are the bundle packs available to Japanese consumers, yet even despite this omission, we can't help but stare in awe at our jaws, which are firmly planted by our feet on the floor. Is this an indication of what pre-orders will be like when the game releases in the US and Europe?

I think this is amazing. The Final Fantasy series could do for the DS what it did for the Playstation: help to put final nails in the coffin of the copmetition.
And no, I don't mean the PSP is going to die. The N64 was still successful after Square switched teams, but FFVII helped to solidify the PS's domination.
Funny how the shoes are on the other feet now...

By "Put them nails in the coffin," I'm assuming you mean "Help Dragon Quest VII put the nails in the coffin."
...Because that's what did it in Japan.
