Down Home Cooking: It works, it really works
When we reported on Down Home Cooking for the DS, we were intrigued at the possibilities such a title could offer. Well, a forum poster by the name of Jonnyram got ahold of it and put it to the test, creating a Sweet and Sour Pork plate through entire instruction from the title. He says it turned out good, and by the looks of it, we'd agree that it is in fact edible food and not some weird concoction of various poisons.Check out the thread, Jonnyram also goes on to answer some questions about the game.

Well, Nintendo is really pushing the unconventional game thing, so I guess cooking is no different. They already convinced me that math can be fun, thanks to Brain Age.

I really approve of Nintendos overall strategy... They are showing that taking risks can have really great rewards.
That's my two cents...
Now bring me some recipes! I need to cook DS style!

Looking on the screen, there appears to be a microphone icon above the DSlite's mike.
That suggests, that you can turn the pages with voice commands. :D

Such a smart idea. Because the system is portable you can take it out to the shops and use it as a virtural shopping list. Well Done Nintendo!!!

Yes the cookbook is voice operated. It talks to you. It even has videos detailing a lot of the steps. So you can see for instance how to slice the tomatoes.
It can also search for favorite ingredients or not list recipes with an ingredient you cannot eat. So if you are Jewish you would have it not list any recipe with pork or shellfish for example.
It also has what appears to be calorie counters as well as a meal planner. It can suggest meals based on ingredients you input that you have on hand.
