DS Lites invade McDonald's in Times Square

Yesterday, we told you about a series of DS Lite demonstrations being held at various McDonald's joints in New York City. While some of you made the astute observation that the nearby Nintendo World Store made that sort of thing a bit redundant, it didn't stop one of our fellow bloggers, Andrew Yoon, from stopping by and shoving his camera into every available face. The fact that Mr. Yoon writes for PSP Fanboy will be conveniently glossed over.

He summed up the event as follows:

"The DS guys aren't timely. They arrived half an hour late."
"The games playable include New Super Mario Bros, Tetris DS, True Swing Golf, Brain Age and Big Brain Academy."
"Every person that plays will get an iced coffee and cool (but useless) frisbee thing."
"It seemed like a success: people asked, 'Where's the nearest Toys R Us?' so they can buy these suckers."
"A mom seemed completely entranced by Tetris DS."

Entranced mothers could likely be taken as a good sign for Nintendo's ongoing Touch Generations campaign, and events such as these are a great way of grabbing the attentions of those who call every single gaming device "a Nintendo." More pictures follow in the second part of the post.

Last Sunday we visited Six Flags, St. Louis and 4 Nintendo guys/girls (along with their utility and anti-theft belt) were there with the bunch of DS Lites to play.

For all kids they gave Mario Super Brothers stickers and gift coupons. (the gift is not revealed till you scratch it). We got $1 coupons for the games.

Awesome captions, man. This is why Mr. Kietzmann gets the big bucks for making the funny. But, if you want SERIOUS journalism, free of Ronald McDonald and moms trying to improve their brain age, then you stop by my PSP Fanboy site. Hellz yeah!

Where did they find these terribly unattractive Nintendo girls to showcase the handhelds to the public? Hell I mean, what were they thinking? Were they just sitting in their office and saying "Well let's go find a few seriously ugly and frumpy girls and have they take a few DSez to Mickey Dee's aaaaaaaaaaannnnnd we'll give them equally unstylish fanny-pack slash security belts,"?

first off, let's see a pic of you, Lazy American...you must be the hotness, huh?

second, and i'm not saying these girls are "ugly", but think of the people they are trying to attract: moms, kids, perhaps an older person here or there. i don't think they really want to try to get horny men to play the ds, hence no "supermodel" Nintendo girls.

Also, most of these promotions are handled by promotions companies. Nintendo contacts a company, sends them some boxes and the company picks one of their underpaid representatives to read the materials and go do the activity. These companies usually spend more time handing out cigarettes than demoing game systems, and let's face it nicotene addicts don't really care who's giving them their hit.
