Hold your breath and rev your chainsaw [Update 1]
We've known for quite some time that Capcom would be developing a Wii-exclusive Resident Evil title. Would it be the next game in the main franchise, a true RE5, or perhaps a more direct sequel of the Gamecube and PS2 mega-hit Resident Evil 4? Or would it be one of those Outbreak/Zero/Veronica spin-offs that no one really cares about? According to the most recent issue of the Official Nintendo Magazine (UK), we won't have to wait much longer. Though the news was too fresh to make the August issue, they apparently have some exclusive info on REWii, as evidenced by a rather obvious silhouette of Leon Kennedy. The issue is due for release somewhere around August 6th.
[Update 1: Clarified August vs. September issue mix-up.]

I get the Nintendo mag in the UK, it was the August issue that the news ( or lack of ) was printed in. I hope it will be in the next issue, cause if its anything like Resi 4 then i'll be a happy Resi fanboy.

I read somewhere (Wiigamer? or maybe gonintendo) that a Chris Redfield model is nearly completed, so that'll be interesting with both Leon and Chris in the game. And it's supposed to run on a modified RE4 engine with 'highly increased' visuals. My guess is it'll use the Wii remote to increase aiming accuracy.
As long as it's more like RE4 and less like Gun Survivor, as rumored, I'll buy it on release day.

Id say that Chris redfield info is pure BS, simply becuse there is no information at all yet on the game. If you read something about Chris Redfield, then its probably RE5 news, and RE5 ain't coming to Wii

Did they actually confirm that RE5 wouldn't be on the Wii? Cause a confirmation is much different than no comment. Last I heard, it was still a possibility.
I'd like to see this be a sequel to RE4 as a Wii exclusive, and a watered-down RE5 coming later. (Watered-down like the PS2 version of RE4 was watered-down)

How is "Zero" a Spin-off if it is part of the main series, and it is called "0" because it comes before the first one? I thought spin-off meant a deviation from the main story, like Outbreak or Dead Aim.
