Next-gen Tony Hawk footage leaked
If the folks at Gaming Age are to be believed, this footage was swiped from an early build of a next-generation Tony Hawk game. There's nothing in the video that points towards this being Downhill Jam (confirmed for the Wii last month), but footage this early is unlikely to be tied down to a specific platform yet. It appears to be an animation test, showing a skater flail his arms about while attempting to maintain his balance. It looks good (if it's real), though expect next-gen naysayers to complain that "It's still just a guy on a skateboard. What's so next-gen about that?"

The physics animation is quite nice, indeed.

A little dark, but pretty impressive indeed. If the Wii can pull off these graphics - which I fully expect with it being twice as powerful as the GC - I think you'll have a lot of PS3 and 360 fanboys pulling at straws to justify the extra cost of their consoles.
Just 8 more days till we see real, confirmed footage and gameplay!

people complaining about bad graphics on the wii need to watch this, looks so good,
and as above, 8 more days, I am so excited !

That looked great, still pretty sketchy though. I'm excited for next week week as well...

week week.

How do we know this isn't for PS3?? I must say, I am keeping my hopes down, so that I am not dissapointed when I see real graphics and gameplay at E3.
As of now, I don't believe these are revolution graphics. And I have my worries about Wiimote calibration and stuff. PROVE ME WRONG NINTENDO! PLEEEEASE!

That's a real guy in front of a blue screen. The difference in graphics b/w the skater and the ground's textures is apalling. There's no way that's real.

Kristian, read the post again. "This footage was swiped from an early build of a next-generation Tony Hawk game." An early build is going to be focusing on the models and animations, not the textures of the ground. The difference in quality actually adds to the possibility that this is real.
I truly believe that this is a rough version of what we'll see this next-generation (it'll be even better!) and I don't doubt the Wii will be able to do this.

Wiiiiiiiii!!! I can't wait to see what they do with the wiimote on this game.
TME @ May 1st 2006 9:46PM
This does not confirm anything about graphics, nor do the ground textures prove it's fake.
If this is done on a Revolution, that just proves that it can render a single skater with no environment.
and...
If this is a simple animation test they probably wouldn't put much thought into the ground texture.

If this footage is real, that's quite possibly the best looking skateboarding animations for any game. Ever. I used to skate, so I know what skaters look like when they do their thing, and that pretty much nailed it.
Although I will say the new hardflip animation in THAW was really good...
